Mirtazepine is an antidepressant medication and I was wondering if anyone here has first or second-hand knowledge of its interaction with hallucinogens, specifically of the tryptamine variety. AFAIK it is not an SSRI, but a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant. It is a 5-HT2 antagonist, which I'm guessing will mean that it'll dampen trips somewhat...

Any empirical data would be incredibly appreciated.

I was prescribed to remeron for a little while. It tended to make me quite sleepy, and in my experience, it does slightly, but noticably, reduce the effects of LSD and psilocybes. Couldn't tell you for sure bout anything else, however, I'd guess it would be the same, but I'm not a doctor.

Taking it on the tail end of a trip made it much easier for me to sleep. Only drawback was I wanted to sleep for like 12hrs... ha

I've been on mirtazepine for years and havn't noticed any real difference taking psyches. Acid seems slightly less visual than before but the rest of the trip is there. 2C-X/mdma all work fine. I take 45mg a day.

Word fellas, that's pretty much what I needed to know. Thanks a bunch!

Doesn't the Big Antidepressant fact say that Mirtazepine increases the effects of psychedelics A LOT? I was always under that impression.

1 or 2 of the 15mg instant release remerons kills a 2c-t-4 trip within an hour. I cant say too much about the safety of it, but I never felt any indications of danger...

Kills any trip for me. I go zzzz. Fucking horrible zombie drug for me but I don't eat them regulary. Only useful for lucid dreaming or hardcore hangovers IMO.

Tricyclics like imipramine are supposed to potentiate psychedelics I think, mirtazepine is a tetracyclic though.

Egor/Elinisti, are you prescribed the medication or do you take it as a sleep aid/ for other use?

iv taken psychedelics for 15 years and i take 45mgs of remeron a night for sleep i have to take twice the dose of just about any psychedelic at the least since i started taking it. Could be a coincidence but i dont think so.

For me mirtazapine potentiated psychedelics, slightly. E.g. 20 mg 4-AcO-DMT had the same effect as 25 mg. At very high doses it may block psychedelics (as well as stimulants), but in usual therapeutic doses it usually potentiates psychedelics.
