mirtazapine questions?????

i was recently prescribed mirtazapine (anti depressant) by a psychiatrist at the hospital because i have been depressed for over a year and im getting sick of it.and just wannna be happy normal again.i have always been against anti depressants but i finally said ok to my doctor because i was tired of depression. usually i would not take this stuff. i was wondering if anyone knows any info about it.i was wondering what substances i can and cant do while on the medication. i love tripping and i love rolling on mdma occasionally. so i was wondering if it is safe to do these substances while on mirtazapine. but i have taken those two substances many many times for like 6 years so i am used to them somewhat.lsd,mushrooms,and mdma.....????????
 
Mirtazapine is a sedative anti depressant which is on a class of its own. It has a wide range of interactions (mainly other sedatives and classical anti depressants), but it is a safe medication.

I would be very cautious with the drugs you're mentioning while taking it on the long run, though.

Ive only ever used Mirtazapine as a sleep aid and it works quite well at a dose of around 30mg (IME) the only other thing i can say in regards to taking MDMA whilst using Mirtazapine is that you can never be 100% sure of the purity of the MDMA so therefore there is always a slight possibility that the MDMA could contain other ingridients that could interact with Mirtazapine.

I've taken it for seven years. It works great for depression, and you'll get a good night's sleep as well. Be wary of the weight gain, however.
 
I used to take this, unfortunately I never adapted to the sedative effect and it zombified me. I seemed to be able to use MDMA with it, with no adverse effects.

As lil nemi said, be wary of the weight gain. I caught myself eating entire packets if biscuits more than once.

Also noticed it made my breathing shallow and uncomfortable when I drank alcohol with it.

Everyone else on this thread said MDMA was fine with Mirtazapine. Does it block your roll? Do other people share your opinion? I was asking because I was just prescribed Mirtazapine, and I LOVE rolling.
 
I dont know about rolling on it as it was a roll that caused my depression.

Just to add to the thread I took mirtaz for 5 weeks and experienced the following:

Long sleep with very vivid halucination style dreams (not refreshing sleep)

Weight Gain. I suffer from having no appetite after this long comedown but on this stuff I had massive cravings for sugar all the time.

Zoned out of my mind during the day very sedative.

Nothing great in terms of antidepressnt effect.

Preferred to be straight than on this drug.

Obviousley everyone is different but the more of these reviews you get hopefully they will help you make a decision.

I would advise you not taking it alongside illicit drugs. I am always wary of MDMA in particular with other drugs because of its ability to inhibit the P450 enzymes.

Mirtazapine is an interesting drug with as far as I can tell a unique mechanism of action. Been wanting to give it a try.

I expect it will at least dull any serotonergic substance.

IME it affects your MD buzz but not as much as actual seritonin reuptake inhibitors
 
I asked my Doctor about it and he said if it wasn't for the weight gain side effect then it would be a sound choice.
He also said the weight gain is pretty heavy (no pun intended) and that most people put on a lot of weight.
So as others above me have said, just be careful and keep an eye on your weight.
Sorry I can't answer your main question as I have never tried Remeron, but would like to for its sedative and anti depression effects.
For the record I'm on Dothiepen 150mg at night, and I guess it's working, but very subtlety.
 
is it safe to mix mirtazapine and Buspirone?

i just wondered cuz i worry about serotonin syndrome. but i have bad anxiety so i wondered if i could take buspirone with my prescribed mirtazapine. and im trying to figure out all the drugs that i should stay away from while on mirtazapine.
 
so far it hasnt cured my depression.but it did stop me from thinking about suicide.which is good.but i do also have strange dreams. i cant sleep on it but when i do fall asleep it can make me sleep from 10-15 hours straIGHT. but ya its sucks i cant do most drugs while on it. even good drugs non addictive ones
 
is seroquel safe to take with mirtazapine

mirtazapine as in remeron. anti depressant.

and serq is antipsychotic

it sucks when i need all this medication but im too poor and my doc said i cant waork for a while or a job will give me another mental break down.lifes a bitch

Doctors love to give "the full Monty", aka an antidepressant AND an antipsychotic, to the druggies like us.

Obviously you've been scripted that by your doc, and I don't see any contraindication between these two meds. Good luck.
