mirtazapine (generic for remerol)

is mirtazapine like an opoiate, when i take df118 or sevredol it gives me a warm feeling inside and a glow all day then a slight high for the rest of the day with sugar cravings, will mirtazapine do that has it got opoiates in it???

It worked well for me. I was on it for over a year. @ 15mg/day, it did a good job of reducing my anxiety and depression in general. I found it a little too sedating to take during the day, so I took in before bedtime. I slept wonderfully for the first time in many years. My dose was increased to 30mg/day after being on it for a while to reduce the sedation and increased appetite. The noradrenergic effects kick in a little more at higher doses.

An interesting effect of this medication is that lower doses are more sedating than higher doses (15mg is more sedating than a dose of 30-45mg). This drug is effective in treating refractory depression when combined with an SSRI/SNRI. I've tried it in combination with the drug buproprion as I suffered from severe treatment-resistant depression and nothing seemed to work. It was quite effective and helpled with my insomnia.

I did'nt benefit from citalopram (celexa) at all. I was on 40mg and I had all kinds of generalized anxiety and social phobia.
Effexor XR(SNRI,venlafxine hcl) super awesomeness!:D
 
SSRIs often exacerbate anxiety initially, so it is likely that in the beginning your anxiety will worsen. If you stick with it and possibly use benzos in the short term, you may find them useful for anxiety, particularly generalized anxiety disorder.
 
Ive been on mirtazapine for a couple of years now, as well as prescribed fentanyl (75ucg/hr).

Not only does it work great for depression but it helps me sleep well and has, more than once, worked as an alternative to benzos to bring me down from manic speed and coke highs.

All in all I've been pretty impressed - and if you're taking strong opoids too (licit or illicit) then chances are you don't express mad food cravings as the strong opioid will trump the mirtazapine-munchies. I found this out over the last two years, as when I commenced mirtazpine therapy I was only taking dihydrocodeine and tramadol for my pain and I definitely felt mirtazapine-munchies...... fast-forward to now when I'm on at least 75ucg/hr fentanyl and with up to 20mg of oxynorm daily for breakthrough-pain.

I'm curious if anyone else has found this to be the case?

My doctor increased my Mirtazapine dosage from 30mg to 45mg about 3 - 4 weeks ago. Over the last few days i have been feeling a bit dizzy and strange, has anyone else had this kind of thing happen? is it even possible for the side effects have a time delay like this?
 
^Did your symptoms go away? Increasing my dosage from 30 to 45mg. Anyone been on 60mg?
