Opioids Mirtazapine and Opium unpleasant reaction

Few days ago I tried san pedro cactus to disastrous effect. My tolerance to serotergic drugs is fairly high from MDMA use so Mescaline did absolutely nothing for me except knock me for six with nausea for 12 hours. At 12 hours I took some mirtazapine to kill the nausea since I was in such a bad way that I couldnt keep my pod tea down. However Mirtazapine subdued the high to nil. 2-3 days later and my pod dose is completely ineffective. Im enduring listlessness chills etc constantly with the tea providing no relief.
Mirtazapine is metabolised by CYP3A4 and CYP2D6 and inhibits these enzymes as well as supressing the pleasure centres. Not only that but it interacts downstream with the endorphin system. With the 20 to 40 hour half life all opiates have been rendered useless. I dont know how long this will go on. Im crossing my fingers that as the mirtazapine fades things will return to normal. This is a warning to others on opiates that Mirtazapine may have similar effects.
 
I'm on mirtazapine (30mg) and hydrocodone (15mg) and I get a great body high.

I take the hydros in the late evening and my last does of mirtazapine was the night (midnight) before. I won't take any mirtazapine that night though, I 'm paranoid that I'll get too sedated. Besides the cannabis does a good enough job of wanting to put me to sleep. :|
 
surely ant euphoria is completely subdued though? Mirtazapine works in the same way as anti psychotics insofar as it depresses the pleasure centres by antagonising dopamine and serotenergic receptors. I found that I had zero sex drive anorgasmia depression etc on mirtazapine,. Im surprised that other people dont however. Many seem to respond positively to itl
 
Mirtazapine doesn't work exactly like anti-psychotics, it doesn't block dopamine, in fact it might increase it by antagonizing the 5-HT2c receptors.It does block serotoin, histamine, and norepinephrine. I find for me it doesn't have the sexual side effects as bad as SSRIs. And it or anti-psycotics doesn't block opiates, might even make them stronger. It also doesn't inhibit liver enzymes either.

I don't know why your not feeling the pods(not the same as opium FYI), maybe you're getting a tolerance?Maybe it was just weaker pods? Or maybe you just don't respond well to mirtazapine?
 
It's also Noradrenergic, and since one of the ways the body learns to counter the sedating effects of the opiate is through an over-production of Noradrenaline, the neurotransmitter responsible in large part for the fight-or-flight response to stress, and for a lot of of your typical opiate withdrawal symptoms it may be that it's not that it's been buggering about with your opiate receptors as such, just more you're feeling less of the positive effects and more of the negative what with your Noradrenaline being high temporarily? It'll pass soon enough.
 
Miertazapine decreases levels of dopamine in the limbic system but increases it in other areas. The effects arent clear, but I find it counter intuitive to block dopamine production in the limbic zone. Anti psychotics antagonise dopamine receptors in a similar way since psychosis is thought to be down toin large part excess dopamine. Its a definite tradeoff really.
Ive found that my anxiety levels have beenn quite high lately im constantly ravenous having nightmares and theres a sort of mental fog. Mirtazapine has a looong half life so this could go on for some time. I think its an idiosyncratic reaction tbh.Apparently Mirtazapine is a kappa agonist downstream. Kappa agonism cancels out Mu agonism so that could contribute.
Noradrenaline definitely has something to do with it too. Opiates supress adrenaline production as part of their CNS effect so an elevation in adrenaline could subdue things.
 
Unfortunately I never got in to opiates before getting on mirtazapine so I couldn't say if my high was lessened or not...all I do know is that I still get high. Also I do think that it stunts my weed high some. :X
