I see you and you see me,
But things aren't always what they appear to be.
I smile at you and you smile back,
We laugh together, but there' something we lack.
Bad hair day? Oh, you too! I look and I see the me in you.
I feel so fat and you understand.
But why is it that I can't just touch your hand?
For you are an illusion, Mirror, my friend.
Just a moment of me, not beginning and end.
With enough make-up and just the right clothes,
I can fool even the smartest and no one else knows.
That I walk around daily, just a mirror of me.
That I hide endless secrets so no one will see.
Sometimes, I hate you dear, Mirror. And the lies you portray.
If only I could be me for one single day.
But I've played the mirror for oh, so long.
Afraid of the truth in me, afraid to be strong.
For if I let the world in and they see I've been lying...
They might even guess that I'm actually dying.
So I gaze at you, Mirror and take you with me.
Longing for the day I can truly be free.
I'll soar with the eagles and make angels my friend.
So is death a beginning or a miserable end?

Fantastic!!
I think that desite the obvious insecurities the poem expresses, the most interesting part is how we are the only one's who know ourselves as object while everyone else can only know us as subject. Very good and thanks for sharing!!

If, when you die you have the opportunity to choose between regular heaven and pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It may be a trick, but if it isn't, mmmmmm boy!!- Jack Handy

What a great poem. I could totally relate to it.I feel that way a lot about the way I look, (like the way I look on the outside and how people see me is not right with the way I feel inside) I hope that makes sense! Anyways, I really like it

Caress...how deeply touching and moving. How well you've written about all of us. How easily you've allowed pieces of you to be seen, to be seeked out from behind the silvery screen.
Now, let me tell you what your poem did for me. Your poem was actually a HUGE revelation Not a revelation actually..but a final acceptance of a revelation I've tried to deny for a long time. My initial "feeling" of the words when I first read them...was 'you're talking about me and my bf' In him, I see me. In me, he sees himself. We are so much alike that we love and hate each other with equal zest. I'm his cover, he's mine. We're partners in crime, lost in our crime, and find sanctuary ONLY between us. We share similar flaws, we are equally stubborn, of similar intellect and wanting similar passions.
It's fucked up..but oh so weird and fantastic. But..what I'm basically trying to say is THANK YOU. I don't think you'll know how important this poem was to me.

daaaaaaam...does this mean he could be my soul-mate?
FUCK...too intense!!!!!!
I just realized that I'd love the image in the mirror completely, the day I love myself completely.
What does that mean though?
hmmmmm
Trip to the brain!!!! Someone give me some drugs before I start thinking too much.
Luv you Caress.

Zone, Sometimes, it's the other way around....when others only see us only as "object". Excellent point - got me thinking. Thank you!

Thank you and the "sweet" part made my day.
writnpage, You are the best. I hope this is your soulmate! Your description of your relationship sure sounds like it could be. I'm glad you liked this and I wish you all the love in the world.

Ppl have always judged a book by its cover. May it be in person or on this board. How many times have we read something and said this person is a butt. I know I have. And the best part is meeting the person and seeing a different side. I have made some awesome friends on here. My partner in crime and someone I think of as a brother are two examples. Keep up the great work!
