Mint Appreciation Thread 2

ya i know, but do they even sell 1 day passes? i looked around a bit & found no option for that. if enough of my crew decides to go i might try to save some dough but i doubt it.
 
EDC looks fucking hella bad, minus mimosa Borgore and a few others. I knew that was going to happen hence why I'm buying tickets to every chicago fest but EDC, and of course this year is my first year at THE ELECTRIC FOREST.

UMF has been awesome
To me, first music fest ever and I've gone past few years. Just want to do other shit for once (plus i spent 2,000 plus each year on one fest and 2,000 combined for SAMF, NCMF, and LOLLA. So it puts it in perspective. Anything requiring a plane ticket+hotel really changes shit.
 
ya theres only 90,000 tix for edc chicago tho. vegas has 300,000 thats probably why. Joliet is so small idk why they picked that spot. and ther ad is showing canal street and shit..like its an hour and a half away!! Lol

hell ya gets expensive as shit. I wanted to do edc vegas but after the cost its more of a loss than a win! lol im goin to edc chicago cuz its only 20 mins from me but ya the lineup is ok, i cant believe i get to see avicii im so excited. hope hes last or il have nothing to look forward to tho haha
 
honestly tho i feel bad for anyone who isn't around chicago, i mean COME ON weve got like ten music festivals every summer were lucky as shiiittttt
 
I'm not going to EDC but Rt 66 Speedway is a great place to see a show. I caught Dylan & The Dead there in 04'. Great sound & an intimate feel considering how large it is. Parking lot was set up nice and allow for maximum mingling. Have fun everyone. I'll be at summercamp. Shit though... Andy C, High Contrast, Empire of the Sun (wow), Ed Rush & Optical. So many great D&B-ers. Awesome to see a fest in Chicago not consumed with dubstep/brostep.

thats where ill be at to, they have a nice variety of music that i like and thats where i go every year

Oh i forgot about andy c, it still doesnt change shit for me tho. MIA chicago fulfills every chi-area junglists desires IMO anyway :) i wonder what the new mint press is gonna be this summer. theyve just about used all the math symbols!! even the "bowling ball" is actually the "therefore" sign in math. and the "A" is actually an upside down A meaning "universal quantification". maybe itll be the division sign finally. whatevsssss....LUV U DUDES/LADIES HAPPY SPRING

yep agreed.. i tried going through all the MMW and WMC parties and picking ones out but i just gave up after a while, lol... theres literally so many parties there that its overwhelming... the lineup for ultra is absolutely insane! im particularly excited to see ASOT there...
 
I wish that in the upcoming years we could bring ASOT to Chicago.. imagine ASOT at the United Center..

I'm still trying to figure out why everyone likes ASOT so much

I purposely skipped 500 and 600 the last 2 ultras. It sounded so... Boring.

The thing about trance that drives me nuts is you have 11 minute songs with no real progression, drop, or story.

It's just a chic singing with melodic beats. Makes me zone out or change the channel. I guess it makes sense being on Sunday cause you're all like "blah" from raging 2 days in a row (unless u get re pumped!). But there's always such better music

Last year I saw Steve aoki, knife party, bloody beatroots, dj shadow, chase and status, and bassnectar (and more I forgot) instead of ASOT. I consider that a win.

lol... people like ASOT because they like trance... if you dont like trance than ur probably not going to like 10 hours of it straight....

idk i like all kinds of dance music and i see just about every dj i can but i still like trance too... also alot of trance dj/producers are now spinning a combo of trance and prog house.. BT's sets are now all over the place including electro dubstep and DnB... PVD does prog house and electro and gareth emery has some of the best prog house sets i have ever heard...
 
regardless of who's playing, i just can't do the fest thing anymore. in fact i've never been a huge follower. i'd MUCH rather see some old school chi-house legends rock a smaller, more intimate club w/ the wifey right by my side. i can't stand this new generation of drugged-out candy ravers - no diss to you younger kiddies, but the noisy brostep garbage: JUST NOT IT. sadly alot of kids coming up will never get to experience what us old heads did when house/techno just started popping off. todays' events, big OR small, don't seem to encapsulate any of that feel of fresh, exciting, being part of something.

apologies if this sounded like a rant; it surely wasn't meant to be. it's just really difficult getting hype for any events the last few years. dropping in to wish everyone a fabulous spring/summer! perhaps i'll run into some of you @ some point in milw or chi. love!

me too!! its actually the opposite.. i used to love going to clubs and small venues and hate festivals but i got tired of all the young douchey kids there... spring awakening changed that for me and from then on i was hitting all the fests... i like the open space of the festivals especially in summer...

no way they've used almost all the math symbols...maybe start going with does not equal, greater/less than, infinity, square root, #, approximately equal, if and only if, congruence, is an element of, summation, integral,...theres so many math symbols. sorry im a math geek and love the fact that mints all have math symbol presses.
