Lol chitown mints is a dude, I just call all my guy friends "girl" as a joke lol. Its a huge inside joke with my group of friends.
And the whole edm music scene has always been fading regardless what genre you speak of. Trance is the one genre that has changed the least I think so it still sounds good. Idk i personally love all forms of music if the composition is decent.
Theres a lot of SHIT electro out there nowadays too, but theres still ALOT of great electro too, the music is blowing up so everyone and their fuckin mom is on deck now.
I feel as if Dubstep is the same, but worse because everyone is drawn to it right now. The worst part is that 90% of the populas that has no true dub knowledge just thinks that dubstep is a bunch of crazy ragers who like to listen to loud crazy clashy music like skrillex. I hate where the general idea of DUb is at lol. There is so much potential for that genre, it can literally engulf EVERY genre if done right...... lol
But for real, you definitely have to hear the calmer side of dub, the bass side, the baby makin music aka chocolate beats lol. It can get very interesting/trippy/intense. I love when artists bend the bass tones, and when they have a slightly glitchlike sound. Nowadays theres all these new brosteppers out there who are completely missing the point.
Your supposed to build the mix with melodies and smooth bass and at times you can let it get crazy, but IMO its FUCKING STUPID to just sit there with WOMP WOMP WOMP WOMP for the entire night.
You just gotta keep an eye out for good music in general theres always gonna be HUFF stuff out there.
Oh hey girl!
Was gonna say CTM seems way to dude-like to be a chick
Id agree, The beautiful thing about EDM is its ability to take on so many forms currently as well as the potential to expand beyond what it is now.
It's taken on a full scale of BPMs, with your crazy low dub guys at 80, or the standard 140, progressive house at a cool 120-126, electro in the middle at 130-138, and heart pounding drum and bass upwards of 180. Sorry for those genres I didn't mention.
There's "techno" for everyone!
I LOVE dubstep, it brought me back into the music. I kind of faded away from Edm because It seemed like you, at the time, only had one choice: tiesto. I enjoyed parade of the athletes and his other album, but when it seemed like those were the only two albums people had, it got really old really fast. Now, keep in mind that's not what was actually going on, just what it felt like. I just chose to do most of my research into underground music on hip hop
Then, whilst i was wasted my boy came over and played sublime doin time remix on YouTube (pretty sure that's an artist who's name is from a bad ass terintino film

)
Insta-hooked, it was all downhill from there, every music festival with electronic music, every local show involving anything but trance

(literally enough shows over the course of the few years that my girlfriend who LOVES and knows edm probably more than I do got tired of it)
So I thank dubstep.
.
It was awesome when I was young listening to industrial or even the usual mainstream stuff (think blade techno) and Paul oakenfold's stuff from swordfish (still like that READY STEADY GO! Jam)
Trance has its moments, I like to make fun of it cause it's song structure can be rather boring at times.
It's also funny to me when I see trance djs at a festie. Last end of summer there were some great dub and electro bangers getting played and everyone was dancing, then a certain three letter trance Dj came on stage and it was like everyone didn't know what to do with themselves (literally, no movement and people actually sat down)
That's my story, yo!
Lol
I WANNA GOTO LE FOREST NOW
