Milligram and dosing basic question

I was prescribed with add and have adderall. It is onlly 20 mgs of ir and isn't very strong, but I workout 3 days a week, I feel unhealthy when I take it on workout days. Would it be safe to take 2 20 mg on non workout days.

You shouldn't be taking it when you're working out, as it can make your blood pressure and BPM to go to high, which is probably why you felt unhealthy. So yeah, just take it as prescribed on your non-workout days.
 
Yes, I'd only take two when you really need it though. Higher doses will raise your tolerance and raise likelyhood of unwanted side effects.
 
Yes, it is safe to increase your dosage. It's a slippery slope as this will cause your tolerance to raise as well. Side effects increase also as someone mentioned.

The longer intervals you have in between dosing days, the better. Make sure to eat and stay hydrated, rest when possible and supplement with a multivitamin if need be.
 
Thanks for the help, I have no further intentions of taking it on workout days. On non workout days though, I feel 40 mgs would be.more what I need, yhis is only 2 days a week, so I dont thimk there is a chance for adfiction if threr is a.low use routine.
