A bit of relevant information about me: I'm 6 feet tall and about 165 pounds with a lean, athletic build. I lift at least once a week and do cardio at least three times a week. My diet is hit and miss (pizza at 3 am, but also a dietician girlfriend for 10 meals a week). I have been using pain killers frequently for about a year and a half in addition to frequent alcohol use and occasional marijuana use. My preferred dose is about 40 mg of hydrocodone or about 20-30 mg of oxycodone.

Last week I decided that during my three years of college I have put my liver through a hell of a lot and thought it would be good to cease all drug/alcohol use, exercise, eat right, and use an herbal liver detoxification technique if only for a short period of time. I chose milk thistle and have been taking it daily for five days.

Anyway, I decided to take painkillers tonight (for the first time in about a week) while writing a paper. The only thing available to me this evening was 10 mg of hydrocodone. And wow, it felt like I had taken closer to 30 mg.

While there are some other factors to consider (such as stomach contents, caffeine ect.) everything was pretty standard for me. With that said, I've come to the conclusion that detoxifying your liver (perhaps to remove metabolites that build up and help your body form immunities and tolerances) helps to "reset" your tolerance to a certain extent.

Maybe this is just me, but for all of you out there who want more out of your doses.. give milk thistle detox a try.

Well I dont know about the milk thistle but the time you took off from opiates (how ever long it was) will drop your tolerance alone and that is always something to remember when taking a break from any drug for an extended period of time. Ive seen people OD because they took breaks from dope and went back thinking they could still do 5 bags right off the bat, man they where throwin up for hours.

If you want to get higher off of hydrocodone you want a broken liver not a healthy functioning one ;)

Milk thistle has been shown to inhibit the enzyme's which break down hydrocodone.

Indeed, in recent experiments using milk thistle and human liver cells, the researchers found that
relatively small concentrations of milk thistle did significantly slow down the activity of the liver enzyme
CYP3A4 by 50% to 100%.

The flavonolignans silybin A and silybin B from milk thistle (Silybum marianum) inhibit CYP2C9-mediated warfarin metabolism at clinically achievable concentrations

So that 10mg dose didn't get broken down nearly as efficiently as usual and you got much higher than you normally would have.

so that works for heroin too, i suppose?

bc i just gobbles some milk seed thistle powder and iv'd some heroin.

.

Don't you just love that opening? Congrats on a healthy exercise regime.

^It doesn't lower tolerance it inhibits metabolism of substances which are substrates of the cyp-450 enzymes making more get into your system if you take them orally (by limiting first past metabolism) and making them last longer (by limiting systemic metabolism). Let me pull up a thread for you. here Awesome CYP-450 Chart!

depending on dosage you should only have to do milk thistle once a month. becareful with that stuff. if its small portions in a multivitamin or fresh from supermarket id imagine it would be ok but becareful if doing extracts. just a warning from a local herbal shop.

also if doing it, especially for the first time, ive noticed any drug use in combination adds an interesting new feel. i dont know if that was just placebo affect or what but would love to hear anyone elses experiences with that.

Milk thistle also known as liver herb is very effective for liver cleansing. It contains a component called silymarin that cleanse liver and protects liver health. Beside that one best remedy for detoxifying liver is by using liver active. It is all natural and safe to use use. You can read liver active review for more details.

Wow. I had no clue this could impact opioids. I have non-alcoholic fatty liver disorder and was taking this for it. Learn something new everyday checking OD.
