Stuck Inside my Head!
Wasn't sure if this should go in Drug Culture or not, so I thought I'd stick it in homeless.

Can anyone recommend any inexpensive yet accurate (yeah, I know the two don't go together that well) scales with a resolution of 0.001g?

A mates have been stolen and she is looking to replace them.

UK supplier is preferred, no idea why - if anyone knows of some going cheap overseas I can just give her the link anyway.

Cheers.

I got mine off ebay for about $40 including shipping..it came from china though, but only took about 5 days.

Tear it down - I've seen some on a few sites that go down to 0.001 for ~£20. On ebay there are some for ~£10.

Finding inexpensive scales isn't a problem, it is knowing how accurate they are likely to be. I know at those prices they aren't going to be 100%, but if anyone could recommend any that are 2 or 3mg out then it isn't likely to be a big deal.

The $20-40 0.001g scales are garbage.

They stick, they exhibit pronounced hysteresis, and are generally ridiculously inaccurate. 20mg on an el cheapo mg scale could be anywhere between 10 and 30 mg. You need to use liquid dosing unless you have a real laboratory grade scale ($75+ used on ebay + shipping that's usually $30+), and even those should be considered sufficient only when the dose is >1/5th of the smallest unit the scale can display.

Inexpensive and measuring down to 0.001 don't go hand in hand. Ever.

I have to second this. I'm done with my RC experimenting days, but in my experience, if you want accuracy, it's going to cost you a decent amount of money. Don't skimp. When you need your doses to be accurate to the milligram, you need to make sure that you are using quality equipment. Even then, your best bet for accurate dosing is dissolving a specific amount of your chemical into a solution, then dosing using a dropper. It's been so long, I couldn't advise on how best to do that, but there are helpful how-tos here on BL and on Erowid.org.
