So I've had a letter advising me to get a lawyer because an acquaintance has filed a civil suit against me. Basically, this friend of a friend has started hanging out with my group of friends because one of my mutual friends is a friend of his friend - basically he barely knows us and just tags along and none of us really like him, but have tolerated him thus far. He instantly took a liking to my girlfriend, which I'm used to, but didn't back the fuck off even when we both made it clear she wasn't interested because she was with me, and she hates him as much as I do. He started doing these really stupid things under the guise of a "joke" despite nobody laughing. It started with him poking her and touching her arm and saying "I've caught you staring again haven't I" when she wasn't even glancing at him and then it became "Rio, your girlfriend is really into me, it's so embarrassing". Nobody would laugh and I'd usually dismiss it by saying "yeah, that's hilarious Jason" then move on.
Then it got worse. He tried to cradle her face in his hands and say "You're dying to kiss me, aren't you?", at which point we'd simultaneously tell him to fuck off at which point he'd go "Wow, wow, wow!! Take a joke" then wink at her as if they were both in on something, which just pissed her off more. I was getting more aggravated at this point. A little aside is that when he's not doing stupid shit to my girlfriend he's telling bad jokes nobody laughs at and trying to be a "clown" which is just pathetic and telling ridiculous, made up stories (he claims to be best buddies with Justin Timberlake and claims to have once saved Prince from drowning and that he used to run meth in Mexico, all of which is bullshit). A week ago, all the time he'd start saying "I know you want me" to her, and I got more aggravated with him. Another time he said "When are you going to ditch this loser and come with me? I know you want to ride me, baby" at which point I squared up to him and told him in no uncertain terms if he kept it up I was going to kick his ass, at which point he pulled the whole "Wow wow wow it's just a joke" routine. At this point my friends started telling him to fuck off too, but he seemed oblivious to it like it was all a big joke. We tried to ditch him several times but he'd always trail after us.
It went too far six days ago. He grabbed my girlfriend from behind, put his hands right underneath her boobs with his thumbs actually right on her breasts, and started fucking GRINDING his dick right into her ass, actually shoving his crotch hard into her ass, moaning "I know you want this baby!". I just snapped, I immediately leaped over to him, pushed him off her, then punched him as hard as I could in the face. He fell to the ground, blood was pouring out of his nose, and he started screaming that it was just a joke and he was going to call the police. I kicked him in the head a couple of times for good measure and me, my girlfriend and my friends left him, my girlfriend telling him to stay the fuck away from her and my friends telling him not to talk to them again and saying that none of us liked him, and as we left he started crying and calling out for help. Today I find out I'm getting fucking sued for assault and battery and that he wants damages for "emotional trauma" and a broken nose. What the fuck do I do!? I know I was totally justified but I'm not sure if the law will see it in that way. How would you guys have reacted, and what would you do now?
