So ive read a big guide here on micron filters and dont understand why it seems so complicated and that you need so much equipment

It seems like a micron filter should be like a better version if a cotton... so why cant you just throw it in the spoon with water/drugs and use a regular needle to draw from it like a regular cotton, exceot that its asically more tightly woven to stop tiny larticles fom gettjng thru?

The main reason is to prevent contamination, but also because some of the solution might get sucked up without properly going through the filter, plus most micron filters wouldn't fit in a spoon very well. Some places do have special filters designed for quicker and easier use by IV users of illicit drugs though. You can get round filters that you just put in the spoon/cooker/whatever and then put the needle of the syringe in a special sort of tube thing that comes connected to the filter, draw it up and voila.

Yes, that is one of the one's I was thinking of, they don't filter out most bacteria or the tiniest particles like a .2 micron filter, Sterifilt are 10 microns I believe, but they are certainly a lot better than using a cotton, and they are much easier to use than a regular micron filter.

A micron filter has several layers. A cotton ball is just a wad of cotton. Need I say more?

The least you'll need is a luer lock syringe and a micron filter. That's not a lot of supplies at all.

I think that Jones meant that not only are there more supplies needed (which are more difficult/take more time to obtain) as opposed to just using a spoon, cotton and regular insulin syringe, but that it is a much more time-consuming and complicated process. I can understand having resistance to changing your method of drug prep/filtration, especially when you are dopesick and badly want to get that drug into you ASAP it may be hard to rationalize using a proper filtration process. But you could do it beforehand and keep the filtered drug solution ready in bottle, vial or syringe. And with practice (like anything) the process gets easier/faster and can become part of the drug preparation ritual. Also when you look at the instructions for micron filtering it looks pretty complicated and detailed, and there does seem to be a lot more supplies needed if you want everything to be as sterile as possible: alcohol swabs, bacteriostatic water, sterile bottle, multiple syringes of different types, etc. But isn't it worth it in order to potentially safe your life?

I actually think you're mistaken there...

Captain Heroin is right. Sterifilts filter out particles above 10 microns in size, not 0.2 microns, and the Sterifilt is not safer or "better" than a 0.2 micron filter. If you are going to profess yourself as a harm reduction website you need to get your facts straight. Also there is no need to make almost the same post twice in one thread. In fact all of your posts on BL have been about advertising your website. Are you a seller of Sterifilts or something?
