Microgram Bulletin UPDATED

mg0507_001.jpg

that's a rather interesting way for a mule to smuggle dope.

^ i was thinking the same thing, but if you read the editors notes, it says something about being on the lookout for immigrants wearing oversized foot wear haha....

they had to have some kind of inside info in the first place....or they just got lucky...im not a betting man, but if i had to, id say they got lucky lol

It makes you wonder how the hell they find something like that.

K9's, snitches, drug country point of origin, electronic detectors, x-rays, unusual behavior by the mule, etc...

Interesting that they came over land with that dope and didn't just fly it in.

After "consent to search"... Don't give consent. Make them convince a judge to sign a warrant and then the officer must obtain said warrant. 8o

Very true, never consent period. Why make it easier.

They catch most mules because they look nervous as hell, the only people to make good mules are psychotics or sociopaths. And they are probably skillful enough to move above drug mule.

Actually, I would be for a link but this would then make them reclassify it as they had done until about 7 years ago. They know we read it but in offering it linked it would force them to inhibit accessibility. Better all keep it in mind and do it that way. I enjoy it but have not read it for more than 6 months now. It is a good read though, ferrous oxide as a blend and all that. Too bad they keep most of the forensic stuff classified still.

I am soometimes baffled by the incompetence of supposed spooky government agencies, take this part of the microgram:
With the assistance of a computer forensics examiner, the header information was obtained, which included the date stamp and the video header. I proceeded to perform the forensics analysis with this valuable information. Initially, I carved the data manually. This meant that I had to hold down the Shift and Page Down keys to highlight two-megabyte segments of data, one at a time, and then export it out to a folder located on another forensic hard drive. This process sounds easy - but it wasn’t, because a video clip is a huge file. I did this for 2 weeks. Trust me, it quickly became tedious, and eventually painful.

After two weeks of this, I used the software that would repair the recovered data files (that is, convert it back into the original video). This was the highlight of all the work, and the results were seemingly worth the wait: “Hey, I can see some video!” That was a good feeling.

This continued for another week, and the good feelings faded. There had to be a better way. I then tried one of the validated forensic tools that we have in the laboratory, one that would “automatically” carve out the data for me. The results were astonishing - and disappointing. The tool quickly created 49 folders, each containing 400 carved data files. No more holding down the Shift and Page Down keys! But then, the repair tool was unable to do anything with the carved files. So I used a different carving tool - same results. The tools seemed to do what they were supposed to do, but the repair software couldn’t do anything with the data.

I continued carving manually for two months. And after all this time, I was amazed to find that I had recovered only a few seconds of video.

The moral of this article is sometimes the technology fails, and the conventional way is the only way that will work, even though it may take you an extraordinary amount of time to get to the final result.

Am I to understand a forensic computer specialist spent two weeks manually copying and pasting what amounts to hex text?!
Didn't he realize no "conversion" is needed and hex is just a way to look at data as text?
And he did not realize all he had to do to view the video was change the file extension from txt to avi or whatever?

LOL can someone explain this to me?

Well, you can just imagine the things still classified, right? In school we received this when it was printed and only 3 pages without photos. It is truly some amazing stuff which only then reinforces the idea that many parts of the US Govt. allows much of these substances in willingly, a la CIA funding, etc. I am not a fan of conspiracies, etc. but any person reading McCoy and still doubting this angle is a fool.

George Costanza, yes, it is like the episode only better.

Actually, it's Kramer's friend Micky, who is a person of small stature (aka midget), who puts the lifts in his shoes so that the child actor who he's doubling for doesn't outgrow him.

In a different episode, George does, however, insist on wearing work boots constantly throughout his relationship with Nina, one of Jerry's friends, because he's wearing boots when he met her and "can't afford a drop of 2 inches". This is the episode where the friends all go to India for Sue Ellen Mishkey's wedding, and the whole episode is done in reverse.
