Miami Dade Sargent James Edwards Charged for Groping Minor Providing Drugs and Alcohol

A 27-year Miami-Dade police officer is currently in jail on a $85,000 bond. Sgt. James Edwards, 47, invited two teens, who are reportedly 15 and 16-year-old brothers, to his home earlier this home for landscaping help. The boys relayed when Edwards picked them up, he wore his police uniform and arrived in his police cruiser. When the trio arrived back to Edwards’ home, a timeline event of molestation and drug use began. The police report (linked at the bottom of this article), indicated the 15-year-old was given an alcoholic beverage, known as “honey whiskey.” At the time, Edwards was also drinking.
The teen stated Edwards and the boys went outside to work on fixing the landscaping. Once they completed the work, Edwards offered yet another cup of the whiskey to the minor. That would be just the beginning of inappropriate behaviors by Edwards, alleges the report.
The Sgt. went upstairs and quickly brought down two pills, which the teen described as “molly,” as he filled a bong with marijuana. The 15-year-old stated Edwards looked at him and said they would “tear it up.” Edwards also took a pill, states the teen. The teens were led into the living room, where Edwards played pornographic videos on the TV. The teen states as they watched the porno, Edwards moved closer and started to touch him, including groping his arms, back, chest. The teen pulled away, saying he was “uncomfortable.” Edwards then began to masturbate himself over his shorts. The teen went to leave, when Edwards approached the 15-year-old and starting groping his back and chest.
Then the Sgt. told the teen to go upstairs with him, and perform oral sex, and they could “shake hands and call it a day.”
The teens ran off, and reported the incident. Once the police were called, they had the 15-year-old call Edwards, while the call was recorded. There, state police, is where Edwards admitted to the allegations.
