MI, Detroit - 12.05.09 Saturday - Shazam 3 - *REVIEW*

yeaaahhzzzz this party is going to be the shit!!! 2,000 + for sure. The fucking sound in the main room is so hardcore you can't go within 10 feet of them. After a good 45 minutes or so you want to go to a different room to breath a little bit, lol. It's a beautiful warehouse venue w/ realistic food concessions, 2 bars i believe, 3 rooms, clean bathrooms, safe environment too. Also, Monster Energy Drink reps were giving away free monsters at the last nightsneak party:) main parking is right across the street from the venue, it's lit up and there's always security outside. I haven't heard of any crazy problems there. They have plenty of professional security on hand. I went to shazzzam 2 and it was the best b-day i ever had. can't wait for this one!!! Also if you did not notice. I will be djing there:)) I will keep ya updated on what stage i'm on and what time. since i know all of you are coming up there to see me;)

So if I can get off work for that Saturday, I am considering making the 5 hour drive up for this. Anyone else from Indy going?

ditto..tho im not driving,my friend is..thisl prob be one of the few big show i get to goto 4 a while,so def gonna make it worth it..<3

i so have a lifesize inflatable monster drink..hehe

Well she got Saturday off so we looking into this more. Maybe think of staying Saturday and Sunday night, driving home Monday. Maybe make a trip into Canada to Windsor (is it worth it? Never been to Detroit, Michigan, or Canada before) for the day to check it out. Found a decently cheap and nice hotel (Hilton) a mile away from the place for like $90/night.

How is downtown in that area? Good, bad, ok? I've heard mixed responses about the area so wasnt sure.

What are your plans brandon? Want to throw down on a room for a night or 2, drive up with us or caravan behind? We might have 2 other people interested in going, tho I'm not sure they can stay the 2 nights.

Windsor is ok, I'm more partial to Toronto, make sure you have a passport if you want to cross though, sometimes they let you slide with a birth certificate, but they give you shit, and you'll almost always get searched.

Downtown Detroit is a nice area, however as far as hotels go, I would recommend avoiding the Leyland, which Nightsneak is giving a discount for, it's a shit hole. I'd go for the Courtyard Marriott, which is very nice, and laid back about letting you have more people in your room. It's also more centrally located than the Mariott, and by that I mean you're in the heart of downtown Detroit, making it easier to find restaurants or whatever.

Let me know if you guys need any advice about places to eat or anything:D

Any discount if it's my birthday (Dec 6th) and coming from Indiana. . . Wait is the promoter even on bluefight?

I can't wait to rock out in Detroit. Needless to say I've never attended a Nightsneak event. Always had something going on. Working, or didn't have the money or what not. This is going to be good...

Another Long-Ass Physix Review

Back in 2000, I had the fortune of being scheduled to play WEMF's Tribe tent up in Canada. I went with Maisha and Lea and a raver-random. Now, hate to dog my sub-peeps, but ravers, especially then, weren't well known for their ability to plan, see things through, and have drama-free excursions. Lea, back then, was an up-for-it rave-chick; that's how I knew her. That's not to say that she was always surrounded by drama; in fact, quite the opposite. I had never heard her name involved with drama shenanigans. She always had a job and her own place, as far as I knew. Still, I associated her with being an always-up-for-it raver. So I was worried that things just wouldn't go exactly as planned.

Well, I had no need to worry. With the exception of some raver-shenanigans that involved Mr. Random Raver*, who had been instructed by the courts to not leave the state of Indiana let alone the country. But Lea was the perfect traveling companion. She got all directions, got an awesome hotel room not too far from the venue (and for a great price), she was great at introducing me and Mai to people from Ohio that she knew, whom we didn't, and even indulged Maisha's and my listening to Nika Costa's "Everybody Got That Something" over and over. Moreover, she didn't run out of money. There was absolutely no Tomfoolery or Haberdashery involved!

So it's no wonder that I felt completely at ease with the idea of going to Detroit with her a rave. The only thing I had to worry about was the weather, which was no colder than Indy. After all, she had planned it all out: Detroit, hotel, Windsor, gambling, hotel, party, hotel, home.

And that's exactly what happened. They had everything you could want in a travel buddy. So once again, hats off to Lea and Curtis for making the trip as smooth and painless as possible.

So what about the party, then? SHAZAMM! 3, by Knightbus Entertainment (??). Or was it Knightgroove? I can't remember. All I know is that I saw Wilhelm on the flyer and Wilhelm at the door, so as far as I'm concerned, it was a Wilhelm K. party. 'Nuff said.

If you want to read more about the sound, the DJs, the set-up, the shenanigans, the cool security, the performances, physix eating crow, and much more, you can check out the public note on my FB page. It should be public, like I said, so you don't have to be registered or a friend to view it.

FAIL!

Good times though ;) Probably the most rave-tastic party we've been to in YEARS. Reminded us of the old Consortium Scarab used back in the day. All the DJ's we there, drinks were expensive ($8 for a small crown+faygo!), but production was top notch. The sound was crazy, probably the loudest party we've been to in awhile too. Glad Lea brough ear plugs or I would have left the party early due to hearing damage!

Detroit was cool, my first time there. Didnt get to do much in Detroit, other than go to Canada eh and do some gambling eh. Good times indeed!

Glad physix could make it a great weekend with us!

RAVE of the Year. haha.
Craze killed it. Besides a few mishaps. I loved how he played Techno & Dubstep too.
All the music was really dope. Wolfgang Gartner was amazing as well.
