Mexico's deadly drug violence claims hundreds of lives in past 5 days

I wonder how much this has to do with the recent bust of 2000+ Mexican drug-trade folk that went down about a week ago (read about it here). I suspected that such a move would create a massive power vacuum which would only be filled after a lot of violence ensued as different groups vied to take over the top spots of the business. I can't understand why they continue to justify the drug war down there. Nothing ever changes...and nothing ever will change. The opportunities for profit are simply irresistible in such a poor, corrupt country. As soon as you bust one kingpin, 10 more will be fighting to take his place. Like a hydra. Add into the fact that Mexico's government takes in a huge percentage of their revenue from oil reserves which will play out in the next 10 years, and I take a fairly pessimistic view of the place. The only solution is to legitimize the drug trade and take it away from criminals. But I'm willing to bet the cartels assassinate any politician who tries that, because of the threat to their livelihood would be so great. What a clusterfuck :\

Yes, and the difference is that there are not 10 more politicians willing to take the dead one's spot. Unlike their 'Hydra-Like' opponent, as you said, they hide behind a coveted shield of greed.

One is a sword, the other a shield - I do not differentiate between the two; I see a body.

The fact that the US uses more drugs than any other country should raise the concept of: Legalize and regulate! Are we a country led by fucking morons or what?

I'm going to sleep, will you guys wake me up when this is all over and I can go purchase my US manufactured H at Costco?

Are you suggesting that it is a good idea for the U.S to legalize all current illegal narcotics? That is moronic no matter what degree of regulation is to take place.

Certain drugs that modern day mankind have either: Manufactured, Synthesized, or come to known as naturally occurring, serve no other purpose for us than an outright debilitating addiction when available for recreational use and in copious, affordable amounts.

I do not believe marijuana to be classified as such, but I do believe Heroin to be -Just to name one.

An example: When individuals or groups use statistical data such as, alcohol consumption is the cause of nearly 75,000 deaths per year against marijuana's 0 as a means to convey a strong point for the legalization of marijuana - It makes sense.

I sincerely doubt anyone can make a valid argument, as to why a substance like Heroin, should be legalized and made as easily available to the masses as Pepsi Cola.

Things such as cigarettes and alcohol are much like religion when it comes to our Country - Indoctrinated. Does not make it right, but it does not mean lets go fuck our country even more by legalizing 'everything'...

*Takes a huge, enormous, incalculable hit of marijuana*

I think heroin's ONLY purpose is for pain treatment. As far as to get high, that's a waste IMO

^^
I understand morphine's role in medicine. However, I do not understand Heroin's other than when taken orally, rendering it a prodrug. This is the only medical purpose it serves - As far as I know. Which will not be yielding the desired affects a recreational or abusive user would be seeking while in pursuit of a 'heroin' high.

If you have any medical links casing it as solely being used for pain treatment, please post them. I would definitely be interested in reading them.

One way or the other, and I don't think you were disagreeing, legalizing heroin for recreational use is not a good idea. In fact, it's a horrible idea.

you wouldnt use it orally. its used in europe still for cancer pain intravenously, and as a treatment for opiate addiction. morphine is also SHITTY orally. hence the popularity of oxy/hydrocodone as painkillers.

Right, and that was my point. When administering diamorphine for a medical purpose, it is done orally, rendering it a prodrug. I am unaware of any other uses in the states. Not to say that there aren't any. This is really off-topic, though. I was simply making an unrelated point to another poster. Rather it has other uses or not, the point still stands strong. Send me some links, if you don't mind.

People often function addicted to drugs ... even heroin. You'd be surprised at doctors and lawyers, teachers--respectable people with families who lead perfectly normal lives shooting up. Do I think recreational heroin use should be legal? No. Maybe if the doctor prescribed something like oxycodone for a once-in-awhile recreational use would be okay with me. I mean like prescribing 1-2 pills for one recreational use... But I do think it should be decriminalized, not completely legal. I think there should be recreational doctors people can go to to get rec drugs for a special occasion... place time limits on how often one can use certain drugs to avoid addiction, have the doctor do a medical eval and a psych eval, and then take time to thoroughly explain risks/side effects, and then the patient goes to the pharmacy and gets their fix =D

wtf is obama's problem

is he naive?

it is only a matter of time until this shit spills across the border and it is going to be like iraq/afghan western hemisphere edition

it is like they are ignoring it and not trying to deal with it

cocksuckers

address it

Obama's not naive. There's a group of extremely rich greedy men, just like the executives from BP, who run the world. They make hundreds of billions annually on heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine & marijuana. By keeping drugs illegal worldwide, they keep prices inflated, thus making them more profitable. These people are in complete control of our government, and our political system, and take money from cartels' profit in order to use the DEA to rub out their competition, and make sure all (or most) of the money being made on drugs has a cut being paid to the big shots. I want to say the kingpin on this side of the world is GHW Bush, being director of the CIA during many of the years of shady drug smuggling CIA black ops. They know EXACTLY what they are doing.

The truth is though, it has more to do with the bankers who finance him and his family's campaign (and Obama's also), and do the money laundering for the cartels. The CIA just used their government airplanes to help smuggle it in back in the 80's. Now thanks to the money laundering over the years, the cartels have enough 'washed' money to buy their own airplanes and smuggle it on their own. That doesn't mean the bankers don't still get their cut 'washing' all the cash money that is being presented to them.

As for spilling over--I live 5 miles from the border, and I can tell you it's aspillin' all right. Aspillin' over all over, which is why the federal government put in US customs checkpoints on all the highways going north from San Diego, CA to Brownsville, TX, about 90 miles north of the border, creating a 90 mile wide buffer zone that's politics and culture are HUGELY influenced by the corruption and cartels from Mexico.

obama got into office thinking he could change things

then during his first post election with bush bush explained how things really are ,

and obama was like fuck, so i can't really change the world?

or the other thing that happened is obama is in the 33rd degree of freemasonry or at least their puppet,

maybe i shouldn't be saying this on a monitored forum, its creepy the amount of people who have ended up dead

Obama *pretended* he could change things.

The truth is he's been working for the same people who every president worked for since JFK got shot.

The same people who want to keep drugs illegal, and use taxpayer funds fighting greedy, self-interested wars around the world including the one on drugs.

The global elite.

The promises of "change" were all just bullshit, and Obama knew from day one.

Hell, he's even distant cousins with Bush AND cheney.

He knew from day 1. And we fell for it! Again! :(

Oh yeah, it is really creepy how many deaths.

You got that right etard, Obama's got the same boss every other president has had since the late 60's early 70's. Its a guy named Brezentsky. look him up old dude has been runnin shit for years. Also look up Trilateral Commission if ur into that kinda shit...........

sounds like you guys need to loosen up your tinfoil hats

nobody said anything about a tin foil hat. you should open your mind to the fact a small group of men control 98% of the world's gross capital. It has nothing to do with tin foil hats. Those are just a distraction from the real problems and are only used by people with mental illness.

The CIA took off in the game about 20-30 years ago with heroin and cocaine, helping cartels smuggle it. Now the bankers have laundered them money over the years. So much, in-fact, they buy big ass jets to fly it in on their own now. Back when GHW Bush was director of the CIA, then vice president, and president. That should give you a little more perspective.

Hey counterintuitive-youre being counter-intuitive. If you had a family member that was addicted to heroin, would you see that as a health issue or a civil issue? Our country views it as a civil issue. Like they should be punished for something they have every right to do. Legalize heroin and purity and quantity can be regulated, HIV contamination would drop, overdose rates would plummet. Did you think at all before you made that post?

Heroin is NOT used orally in European medical practice (except in very rare cases involving dependent users normally over 50 years old.) It is used in dry amps for shooting up in cases of pulmonary oedema, heart attacks, cancer pain, severe acute pain such as renal colic or in the maternity ward, terminal illness and occasionally other pain or substance misuse.

It is made in amps to be mixed with liquid just before use SPECIFICALLY to avoid it degrading into morphine and therefore losing some of its potency and speed of action.

umm caldaron saying that mexic is having all these problems because its neighbor is consuming all these drugs is true to some degree, which is why you dont see countries in central and south america with the same problems. mexico is the gateway to the united states

Lol any country with jobs like ours is going to use drugs. You can't avoid the fact where there's money, there will be recreational habits.

This is not surprising to me, Tijuana was like this but ha calmed down a lot. The city that's really screwed up is Juarez, and cause of that many other cities get bad a wrap.

Anyone should read the news on that! IF you think you town is dangerous please compare it to Juarez, it's sad but true.

What an utter waste of 1.3 Billon American dollars.

Im tired of this logic throw money at a problem and hope something sticks utter bull shit. We should of used that 1.3 billion towards deserving US War vetrans not Mexico. Waste of time and money. And people complained about bush... I dont see anything postivie from Obama.
