I recently switched from atenolol to metoprolol. This stuff has seemed to make me ridiculously hyper. I would compare it to being manic, almost. I'm already ADD (note, I am NOT on metoprolol for ADD, I'm on it for heart conditions), and it's made me even more hyper and squirrel brained.

Any ideas why this would happen? Beta blockers are supposed to calm a person...and its controlling my blood pressure and pulse as it should, but mentally I'm extremely more hyper than I was before I started taking it. This isn't listed in any of the side effects, so it perplexes me.

It could be some of the other meds you are taking or a withdrawl effect from atenolol. How long have you been on it and whats the dosage of the new beta blocker>

I've been on it for like 5 days, 25mg 2x day metoprolol. I was on atenolol for months, 25mg a day, but it wasn't helping my blood pressure so I switched to metoprolol.

Im on Metoprolol too, also 2 x 25mg in the morning.
I have not felt any manic/speedy feelings.
