Methylphenidate sapping motivation?

Hello all,

Up until about a year ago I was going to school for a degree in film. During this time, I was extremely passionate about making films and I was probably working on a new project almost every weekend. I eventually had to leave school due to financial problems, but I continue to make short films in my spare time.

3 months ago, I was introduced to Methylphenidate. I felt an immediate difference in my work ethic while on it, so I began to take it while working on new projects (generally I'll choose a night once a week and take 36mg). I figured that a low dosage spaced out so far wouldn't cause much damage.

However, lately I've noticed that I'm barely motivated to work on my projects unless I'm on a high and I'm worried that my drive will completely disappear.
(Last month I was contracted to be a camera operator for a week and I ended up taking some every day)

I still function fine on a day to day basis (keeping a steady job, taking care of myself, etc.), however I can't bring myself to even look at footage while sober.

Is my lack of motivation stemming from the methylphenidate? If so, what steps should I take to motivate myself while sober?

Has anyone had similar experiences where methylphenidate or other amphetamines have sapped initiative from a specific area in their life?

Hi,

The root of you problem is obvious. When you use stimulants, your baseline mental and physical performance will decline. It's simply your body's adaptation. Stop using it for a few weeks and you should be able to function well without it.

Moving this to Other Drugs.
