Methylphenidate 54

Hi I’m new so go easy on me. I just started taking Methylphenidate 54mg yesterday, upped from 18mg in 3 week span(holy hell). I do have ADHD, but I’m also a notorious drug abuser. I popped one pill on an empty stomach this morning and had a hot cup of joe to dissolve it maybe a little faster. That said, 30 min after I felt the euphoria slightly, but I’m super dissatisfied with the release of the med after the initial blast. I do feel focused which is helpful, but the rush is gone. Would requesting to switch to Adderall XR make a difference? I’ve never taken Adderall, so unaware of how the lasting effect is throughout the day. TIA
