Methylone or MDMA?

When using a testing kit, marquis testers test for the primary amine, so if the test turns black, it could potentially be MDMA or what is essentially MDMC (methylone), we can't be sure, as both mdmc and mdma turn the marquis purple Is this a correct statement?

Negative, methylone is a substituted cathinone, a beta-keto version I believe. Thats why its called BK-MDMA sometimes


cathinones will always turn a reagent yellow, so even though it has the methylenedioxy attached to it, it wont turn purple, there are only a couple other drugs that will turn a reagent the same as MDMA. If an MDMA reaction is the standard all other MDxx reactions are based on, then the same could be said for methylone, but with cathinones instead
