So, SWIM has a different Ritalin script this time. SWIM has really bad strep throat, and actually didn't take any ritalin for several days, not wanting to swallow much of anything. SWIM is contemplating insufflating these, but when they are crushed there are many biggish pieces that won't break up, kinda the size of the beads that Nurse Jackie so loves to do this with (gross). Is there a technique to getting these finely crushed?

we don't condone the use of SWIM here, we know it is you.

this is the wrong forum for your post as well so i'm going to send it to Basic Drug Discussion.

Use a paperweight, or, even better, the paper method:

Place the pills in question on a piece of paper, fold the paper over the drug and crush the paper, that way you don't lose any pieces.

However, since you have strep throat, snorting powder isn't really a good idea. All that powder irritates your nose and throat and stimulants are bad for your immune system anyway. I've had binges with snorting Dexedrine that resulting in me getting a throat infection.

Thanks. I was thinking perhaps was perpetuating a chicken vs the egg thing. My throat does feel better, but I know to be careful because these can make your mouth very dry. I will be keeping some sugar free hard candy or something around from now on. I think having that dry mouth made me susceptible to the infection. My whole house had it but I was the only one hit with the throat issue.
As an aside, I have tried the paper thing. I think there is a coating around these that is for the long acting portion. This part just turns to "glue" in your nose. Seems a waste. If I could have found a way to seperate it out, that would have been good. But I am going to lay off that route and just take them by mouth.
I wonder if anyone ever plugged these. Huh, now that may be an idea!

Good point, sugar free chewing gum helps a lot, as does increasing your water intake (obviously).

Plugging is something lots of people have tried (I have not, but I'm sure somebody with more experience will be able to chime in). If you have the means, you can scrape off the coating and just eat that, think Exacto knife or something similar.
