Recently I have been interested in teh chemisty of 5HTP or hydroxytryptophan and I was wondering about its possibillity to be methylated into 5 MeO-DMT after being decarboxylated (hopefully) in the stomach? I thought this might be possible with folic acid, SAM-e (methionine)
Does anybody think this might be possible, might I need an MAOI or something too?

MAOI being to protect the compound from stomach acid and make it orally acid, will some survive even if I don't have this?

Combing a MAOI and serotonin based compounds sounds like a sure-fire way to achieve serotonin syndrome. Your choice.

You make the methoxy homolog the same way you'd make any ether, I can't say anything more because there's no synth discussion here.

And it will not decarboxylate in your stomach... if you want to decarboxylate the compound in vitro, you would have to add a protecting group to the amine anyways. Not to mention, you would also have to alkylate the amine after decarboxylation and deprotection.

Not even trying to be rude, but I doubt you could handle that if you're asking us how to make an ether from an alcohol...

^^ what roger said.

maybe take a course or read a book on organic chemistry to help you answer questions of the like if you are intersted in such things.

....and yeah, serotonin syndrome is not something to be taken lightly. be careful experimenting w your own theories w/o completely understanding what youre doing to your brain and body. just lookin out bro.

It seems you got the answers you're looking for, I'm going to close this so that it doesn't jump off topic. If you want to post more questions feel free to start a new thread. :)
