I have a drug test to take on monday, I am prescribed to Adderall. I know that it will offset the outcome of the test. Can Adderall be distinguised from Meth on a typical preemployment drug test?

well, adderall is a combination of levo and dextro amphetamines, meth is meth amphetamine, unless they distinguish between amphetamine and methamphetamine in the test, then you will tes positive for meth, and if they do distinguish between the two, then youll still test positive for amphetamine, which can be overlooked by proving that you are prescribed it. by distinguishing between the two, i would mean that they have 2 separate spots for them.

Typically, no, on standard tests they will generally both show up as amphetamines, which of course you'll be positive for anyways. Depending on the lab that does the test, though, they might raise a red flag anyways if they see obscenely high levels of amphs in your system -- so I would avoid, say, doing a gram of meth night before.

It seems to me that, upon testing positive for amphetamines, a gc/ms test would be used to confirm the substance, which would distinguish between meth and dl-amphetamine. Is this not the case? Or are they testing only for amphetamine metabolites, which could very well be the same for both meth and dl-amp?
At least, it seems to me that any reputable testing company would use gc/ms...
