This is my first post so please don't be too harsh on me for any lack of knowledge that I may display >.< Also, I'm not sure if I should be posting here or in OD but according to the website this should be my first stop.... please move this thread if need be. I hope I am not breaking any rules in this thread, please tell me if I am and I will edit it asap.
So I just registered because a friend recently told me about some methamphetamine HCL crystals circulating in the area covered in crushed aPVP HCL crystals. It was easily recognizable by the smell of the aPVP, though it could also be MDPV, but according to him it smells exactly like the same batch of aPVP that was circulating around a few years back.
Anyway, it sounds pretty dangerous considering it is a combination of two potent stimulants, one being a DA releaser, and the other being an NDRI, so I was trying to find a purification technique that would separate the two. However, there were not many threads mentioning cleaning teks that apply to both methamphetamine and aPVP.
As my first post and question, assuming the stuff ONLY contains methamphetamine and aPVP with no other contaminants, would a simple acetone wash, ethanol/methanol recrystallization, or even an acid base purification be able to remove this cut?
From my understanding, both methamphetamine and alpha-pyrrolidinopentiophenone(sp?) are relatively insoluble in acetone, and freely soluble in alcohols, which would lead to two types of crystals growing in solution. In addition, an acid/base extraction would also convert the a-PVP to freebase and back.. so I'm stumped and I hope the community can help me with this dilemma.

I realized that aPVP and methamphetamine have different flash/melting/boiling points. From what a web search told me, methamphetamine hydrochloride has a relatively high melting point (around 175C). However, aPVP hydrochloride has little to no information (or contradictory information) about its molecular properties. Does anyone know the approximate melting/vaporization point of aPVP hcl and whether or not it is below methamphetamine hcl? I was thinking of using the MSM cut removal method (heat treating in a convection oven at a set temp).
What about the freebase versions of both compounds? would aPVP freebase have a lower flash point than methamphetamine freebase? if it is lower, could it be theoretically possible to convert both substances to freebase and repeat the heat method to remove the aPVP freebase?
