Methamphetamine and driving

Not quite sure why I didn't check this in the first place but erowid has a page (but not really any info) on cannabis drug testing.

Saliva Testing
In the past few years, new technologies have been developed which allow for saliva testing for the presence of Cannabis (THC). We do not currently have information about what the detection period is for these tests.

This maybe better separated into another thread. I'll PM a mod.

Its not hard to put one and two together. Most substances stay in ur blood for 24-48h and 3 days in urine all depending on ur metabolism. As to ur question yes u will come up positive next day if u smoked the previous day,

thanks ^^^ well i have a very fast metabolism ...

Different metabolism (assuming you're talking about when you eat) ;)

Typically yes, but that doesn't mean to say that a road side RDT could detect someone has smoked a weed yesterday.

But I do agree with Sustanon, really better to be safe then sorry if you can help it!

wtf. this isnt what i asked... :p

i drive better on amphetamines.... i have add tho.... my brother runs into shit , like backs into poles /parked cars.. I believe that he thinks he's psychic on it, and just "feels" where everything is... but i'm like NO man, you gotta look!

haha funny

yeah but hes pretty much saying it will stay in your saliva the same amount of time it stays in your urine. any old fuckhead knows how long weed stays in your blood and urine, im interested in saliva testing in particular, so your saying it stays in your saliva and urine the same amount of time? iv heard soooo many mixed opinions on this any no one really knows, just coz its his opinion that you will test positive the next day doesnt make it so

^ Have a read through all the past threads on road side drug testing. The results seem to be all over the place; some have tested positive quite a while after last smoking up, others have tested negative after just smoking a cone or using whatever.

The government websites say 4-6 hours after last use of marijuana, however it seems as though the tests aren't as reliable as we would be led to believe.

If you are really interested, you could possibly get in contact with the companies that make the tests and ask what they think. It would be the best way to find out I imagine.

hey mate thanks, yeah its the same replys i been getting soooo mixed, i think the road side saliva testing is a bunch of fucking bullcrap, im thinking alot has to do with the persons metabolism or whateva it is and tolerance, but thanks i reakon i might give one of these testing companys a ring, you wouldnt know where to start to track down these companys? all good if ya dont just asking.

^ Not sure; I suggested to another user here that you ask the police which company they purchase the tests from and then follow up from there. Someone on another forum has done something similar before in regards to whether 4-MAR would give a false positive for methamphetamine.

^ +1. Even if you think you are OK to drive, sometimes you may not be and not be aware of it.

Yeah, with alcohol and benzos I usually think I am more capable of driving after a higher dose rather than a minimal one. Even a couple of drinks and I will feel edgy about blowing over, but if I'd had 5-6 it wouldn't be a worry.

Typically yes, but that doesn't mean to say that a road side RDT could detect someone has smoked a weed yesterday.

Have heard of people testing positive days after smoking and people testing negative charging hard on meth.

I too was under the impression that all patrol cars have the basic drug testing kits also (and then pending those results whether you're taken for further test. Even RBT tests alone aren't enough for a conviction.

It's all very individually dependant on your body and how well you metabolise cannabinoids (although afaik it's pretty constant amongst the general population but I maybe wrong. Similar to alcohol and the rate of metabolism of that). Having said that, there can be tolerance build to smoking weed.

If you're after a straight answer of "should I drive after 10 hours after my last smoke?", my personal* opinion would be I'd say you'll be fine. As said before, just be cautious of the possible peripheral affects (possibly not sleeping too well and hence fatigue).

Not all patrol cars carry drug tests and it is rare here in SA unless you get stopped at a big RBT and they generally only test for drugs after you blow an alcohol reading or seem impaired for no reason.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED ON THE SPOT IF YOU SWAB TEST POSITIVE (twice) FOR DRUGS. IT IS UP TO YOU TO REQUEST FURTHER TESTING (Eg. Blood Test). If it is the next day after smoking weed and a decent amount of time has passed, this would be the best course of action as you MAY have the case dropped in court.

I have heard those with cannabis tolerance are more likely to pass as their body is used to metabolizing cannibinoids and will test negative after a shorter duration.

You should be fine after 10 hours, however the swab test may think differently. Nowadays it is the risk all drug users run, driving days after drug use can result in a loss of license if you aren't smart about it.

They test for Opiates, Amphetamine-type drugs and Marijuana (+ Ethanol), not Cocaine, which isn't an amphetamine-type drug. if they suspect you of driving under the influence, they will get a blood test on ya, and boom, son, you're a goner.
