so it's been awhile since I've taken methadone, but I just got hooked up with 2 x 10mg pills yesterday and I was wondering something; Since I've been taking 1x 60mg morphine per day for the last 7 or 8days, and its been almost 24hours since my last dose of morphine. That should mean that the methadone should get me pretty high, correct?

60mg morphine is still a lot weaker than 20mg of methadone.

I would say take 10mg,see how you feel hour and a half -2 hrs later, then if you want more take the other 10mg.

Altho, methadone by itself doesnt cause much of a 'high' IME.It's just very sedating and 50mg's jjust makes me a little noddy and tired and a slight warm 'glow' as well.

Yeah methadone is many times stronger than morphine, and 20mg of methadone is a lot more potent than 60mg of morphine. But it still might take 20mg of the methadone to catch a buzz, as it's not a very intoxicating opioid. Start off with 10mg, and wait for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before upping the dose, as oral methadone can take a long time to take effect.

its always given me a nice mellow buzz with some slight euphoria. I am usually a heavy opiate user, but i've been weening myself off and am down to just 1 x 60mg a day, but i am out of morphines so i have to take these methadones til i get my refill on monday. Which I am going to treatment soon, cause I made this mistake of getting into IV'ing a couple months ago, so its time to quit and only take what the doctor gives me and take it in the amount i am supposed to ya kno.

yea every 10min i start to feel it more and more. I love methadone. I only do it once in awhile and never more then a day or two in a row, and after that one or two days i dont do any again for quite awhile, like months, because I dont ever want to go through Methadone withdrawals cause they are, from what I've been told and from what I've seen, they are the worse opiates to come off of by far. the withdrawals can last up to a month or more. FUCK THAT ! lol the 5 to 7 days of oxy and morphine withdrawals is hard enough, i couldn't imagine feeling that for a month lol.

Anyways, thanks for the info fellas, and like I said, I am going to be going to treatment soon, right after detox, so wish me luck. I am still gonna be prescribed oxycodones when i get out of treatment, cause I need them for legitimate reasons, but I will never ever abuse them again,

I feel it starts to almost peak around 2 hours, but really just starts to slow down until you reach hour 3 when you actually peak. Then there are periods were you have some dips and plateaus through out the experience. kinda similar to LSD in its multiple peaks.

When I first dosed methadone I tried 20mg but was really under impressed. I tried 40mgs the next time and omg fell in love. It became my favorite opioid next to oxymorphone. It may not be the most euphoric, but its duration levels that out. I don't have a period during that day wishing I could get high because I've come down. That shit goes on, and on, and when you finally go to bed, you sleep like a baby, only to wake up nice and rested. My tolerance at the time was taking 8mgs of bupe, or 20+g's of kratom, or 90-120mgs of oxycodone.

Once you go past 50mgs of methadone, and taking it multiple days in a row it loses it's magic pretty quick. I'd try and not dose more than 2 days in a row if you want to stop your tolerance from shooting up for all opioids, and to keep methadone feelings nice and fuzzy.

I hear ya on trying to stop abuse. I gotta stop abusing opioids, especially not to abuse my methadone script. I get 15mgs a day and if I want to blow through 450mg in a handful of days I'll end up in hell, let alone prevent the script from working. 15mgs a day is a pretty lucky script from a doc, though I do legitimately need it

I'd just like to point out that the OP never mentioned the ROA of the morphine pills he was taking so all the advice that "methadone is way stronger than morphine" was assuming too much.

20mg of methadone is still stronger than 60mg IV morphine. Though yes, there would be a big difference between 60mg oral and 60mg IV, when compared to 20mg of methadone

There is no way 20mg of methadone is > 60mg of morphine IV. That's a decent amount of morphine, and 20mg of methadone isn't any more than 40 or 50mgs of oxycodone PO ime, so seriously how could 60mg IV be less than 20mg of methadone.

Because the ammount of methadone needed to get high,in my experience, is often a lot higher than the ammount you need to stay straight. If you don't believe it look at a narcotic equivalence chart. It's possible that 60mg IV morphine might be equivalent to 20mg of oral methadone, but I really don't think that it is any stronger.

That still doesn't mean 20mg = 60mg morphine IV. Also the one opioid conversion site had it as two different numbers. One being 20mg methadone PO = 10 mg morphine IV and the other being 18mg methadone PO = 60mg of morphine IV. I personally believe the first number. 20mg methadone seriously isn't that much. 60mg morphine IV = 120mg oxycodone. There is no way 20mg methadone PO = 120mg oxycodone.

Well regardless of however more or less potent 20mg of methadone is, I still think that 20mg should be able to hold someone that Injects 60 mg of morphine a day. And I wouldn't suggest taking more than that untill the user feels it out at that dose or less. When I was shooting a bundle of heroin a day, 20mg of methadone could keep me sane, and able to sleep.

Were talking about getting high no holding someone over though. I understand your point, as 20mg can hold me over on high doses of opioids, but to get high I'd need to take a bit more than that.

Yeah right, then I think we're basically saying the same thing, just in a different way though. Methadone is just not a very intoxicating opioid, and converting the ammount of morphine to the equivalent dosage of methadone will not necessarily get you high.

With a very low tolerance to opiates (2 bags of not so good dope a day), even 90mg did not deliver the same euphoria that two bags of heroin would, and 90mg is a pretty fucking high dosage. Obviously methadone effects people differently, but for the most part, it seems generally accepted that you need to take more to get high than you would to feel comfortable.

I don't think your gonna get the same intense euphoria like with heroin or oxymorphone, but that is just one aspect of the opioid high. Methadone offers a different high, and imo a ceiling for it's high. Once you get to high of an opioid tolerance you lose the ability to fully appreciate it's capabilities for getting high. Once I was taking more than 50mgs of methadone, it started to lose it's high. 40-50mgs with a lower opioid tolerance was my favorite tolerance next to oxymorphone, better than H. I look for duration, a long lasting sense of well being, anxiolytic effect that goes on and on, and a warm sedation.

It works fantastic as maintenance drug because even low doses work well for some types of pain and holds/prevents WDs. I still wouldn't equate the fact that it can prevent WDs with equal doses of those that ones got you high. Its just a different layer of effects if you ask me.

Methadone also has a weird cross tolerance. You don't always go straight over with a conversion factor, you have to also diminish it by a percentage to equate for the weird cross tolerance. This % changes by the dose of methadone. Lower dose of methadone will have a different % than higher dose of methadone.

Correct for if you are taking a daily dose where it builds up in your system each day until your constant concentration level is steady, not for a one time dosing.
