methadone safety

how was valium the worse combo with methadone......???
as opposed to another benzo?

I'm sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I was not blaming the Valium aside from any other benzo. It just happened to be what I was taking.

I was eating Methadone 10s and Valium 10s like candy, one night. I finally passed out, cold. Friends later said my breathing had almost stopped. They watched me for a couple hours, not knowing what to do. Finally I came out.

I guess I'm saying, after that experience, I really respect Methadone and benzos in general. Sorry for confusion.

Yeah I know, but if I have not died from it for months of using with this method, is there a chance that I would just randomly o.d. one day? Or is my survival proof that my method is safe?

I am really truly sorry about your friend.

People die every single day doing drugs or drug combinations they've done before without incident. If you're playing at the edge it doesn't take much to push you over it - even simple things like being underhydrated or overheated can be enough to put that bit of extra stress on your body.

Bottom line is you might be able to continue what you've been doing for the next twenty years without incident or one day some little thing which seems unimportant could push your body to its breaking point. No-one can give you a guarantee either way.

when you are breathing slow and shallow your blood oxygen levels decrease which is bad. low blood oxygen will affect your heart rate and rhythm as well brain function. because 'done is metabolized and eliminated so slowly by your body, you can stay in a state of hypoxia (low blood oxygen) for much longer than other opiates. as your breathing slows, your lungs begin to fill with fluid, your heart beats slower and slower until your brain is so oxygen starved it no longer can tell your heart to beat or your lungs to breathe. this whole process can take up to 6, 7 hours, sometimes more. if someone notices you are in trouble and you're lucky enough to get to a hospital usually narcan has to be repeatedly administered over an extended period of time.
methadone overdose is a slow death.

over the past few years at my work i've seen too many people die from 'dones when all they wanted was to nod and forget and feel ok for awhile, not permanently.
you are playing a dangerous game and it could very well kill you. i get it, i've done it, and i still crave it but there's just no way i can let the people who love me go through the pain i've seen other families experience.
best of luck to you.

Ozzy got it right on the point! I m guessing everyone in this thread has tried done before and knows how long that shit lasts. In higher doses (over 100mg) it causes severe respiratory depression which could last for over 10 hours. My friend crashed his car into a pole, resulting in a broken leg and fines...all because he nodded off for 2 seconds while he was on 60mg dose of done. Ironically the done he was on came in handy because he didn't feel any pain.

This is not a scary story to stay away from drugs. I know methadone has been a very helpful drug for many. Just want everyone to be careful with this one because it is so unpredictable.
In case of real overdose there is only one solution. Paramedics will shoot you up with Narcan (Naloxone) which is an opiate antagonist. There is really no other way if you really overdosed.
Coffee or other stims while you are barely conscious can't help.

Ive been in a done overdose situation myself when I accidentally took too much of it with anti-anxiety medication. My heart felt weird, no real pain, however the thoughts I had during those couple hours were worse than physical pain. At first I tried to freak myself out and get some adrenalin so I can stop nodding off. After that I had a short period when I mentally said bye to my parents, friends and basically ppl i know. After realizing that I might actually pathetically die without achieving much in my life I tried to control my breathing with what I had left. I woke up about 3 hours later on the leather couch stained with my own drool.

Never again I said, however I didn't keep that promise. I am just more careful now.

Explained very well, thanks. And that answers one thing I have never understood. With breathing problems, I developed a "rattle" when I took a breath. Like when you have a really bad cold. I'll bet it was an increase in fluid in my lungs. Never knew, really.
Thanks again. Good thread!

I will lay down at night at around midnight-3am (I usually dose at around 6pm) and sink into a deep nod. I often notice that my breathing is very shallow, or that I must focus to continue taking deep breaths. I then will wake in the morning without recollection of how or when I fell asleep, and wonder if I came close to experiencing sever respiratory depression in my sleep.

The funny thing is that I can only feel satisfied at 65mg or more, while any less does not give me desired euphoria. I am just curious if using once every seven days at this amount will make it so one day, I don't wake up.

Any insights or opinions, as well as someone's similar experience would be greatly appreciated...

In bold are clear signs of taking too much methadone... do you take other opiates? what dosage? what opiate? coz 65mg of methadone is quite a lot....

I don' take any other opiates. just methadone once every seven days. Sometimes I will slip and take it a day or two early, but I try hard to go seven days without to avoid physical dependence...

Usong that for a nod is like using some battery acid for a lsd replacement if you're not to familiar with it. I'm in mmt I'm still iffy about it. It made my body kinda break out in acne on my arms, its had to be that, because I know it wasn't my stimulants. OR benzo use. Basically I'm saying the liqiuid is nasty quit asking if you can plug or shoot it that's fucking awful sursly..... : i

Im not bragging and this is a bad , BAD idea to try(unless u have a death wish) but im on 80mg of MMT for past 6 months a few weeks ago i was depressed and took over 400 mg(liquid oral) within a couple of hours. any idea why this wasnt fatal or how close i may have been to dying?. i only took 'done though ,no alcohol or any other drug whatsoever.I think i may just have a natural tolerance to opiates
