Opioids Methadone Questions

In someone with a semi high tolerance to opiates (100+ mg of oxycodone), what is the best way to try experimenting with methadone? Opiates haven't been used in months, but tolerance is probably still there.

What dosage would be best? How long until the effects of methadone kick in? How long do they last? Can a nice euphoria be expected? That's what is most desired.

Any side effects (like insomnia or loss of appetite)?

How long until I start to come down? How long until I come completely down from it?

Help is very much appreciated.

My high dose was 25 mg 3 times a day, which I was informed is the max per day recommended and usually scripted. These doses produced zero euphoric sensation or body high though. However, this dose was titrated and I began at 15 mg when I transitioned to methadone. Just an FYI. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that my CT'ing methadone, in a hospital setting and with medial guidance, was worse than giving birth au naturel!

Wish I could help you more.

Good luck.

Since you don't know where your tolerance is, because opiate tolerance can drop fairly significantly, start with real low doses of methadone, and slowly you can work your way up. I'd be so cautious as to start at 5 mg. Methadone's peak effects are a while after it is consumed, it doesn't get into the system quickly, but it does last long. It can be euphoric, it is an opioid after all, one of the more sedating ones, too. I can't give that much info on it, other than start with a low dose, and don't redose at all to be on the safe side, for at least like a day.

I take 130 mg of methadone a day and it simply gives me a very small buzz for the day. I have an incredibly high opiate tolerance though so for you it may be different.
