Hi,
Could not figure out how to post a new thread, only in the introduction section, so forgive me if I am breaking the rules!

Husband was addicted to heroin for years, he was in the methadone clinic for 7yrs, had weekly take homes at 120mg. He weened off last year, was clean for 11months, then had a toothache. Dentist gave his Vicodin, and he was hooked. Clearing our bank account out and sneaking off and acting mean and always drunk like. He came clean a few weeks ago, went to the methadone clinic, started at 20mg, then next day 30mg and that is where he says he is at and that he has no withdraw feelings at all. The offered to give him more, but he said no.

For some reason, I believe he is still using something. He was on 120mg for 7yrs of our relationship, aside from the night time nodding out, he was nothing like this. He is fidgety, nodding, sweaty, looks soooo high and its usually around 4ish. He pops his beer, and away he goes with at least 6. I don't recall this odd behavior. He says because he is new to it again. His eye lids droop, it was painful watching him in front of people. He drinks so much still too. Does anyone have any input? He swears he is not doing anything, but I did notice that he's using more cash again, not as much as he did when he was just doing the pills. I don't know, I could be so wrong, but he's even letting our marriage and child go. He's just mean! (so not his personality).

Thanks so much!!!!
:)

Hey! Welcome to bluelight. First off obviously hes lying about somthing & when addicts usually lie about one thing theyre probobly lying about somthing else(related to drugs.) As for someone who has been on methadone on/off like 5x I wanna ask you a few ?s. When he relapsed are you sure it was just on vicodin?? You know what Im gonna PM you.

Check your inbox I pmed u a long message-I also just reread your post. If he doses at say 6am theres no way it would take 10 hrs to get like that. Methadone peaks from 2-4 hours after you take it.

I also am a married man of 35 yrs and have been forced to use opiates as painkillers because of a fractured spine. I switched from Oxycontin to Fentanyl to recently (7 months.) methadone as a painkiller. I also am a serious alcoholic and know kind of what might be happening to your husband...there has been a little extra prescription strength amphetamine along with street quality around and from what I can tell it is much more affordable and almost impossible to hide from someone you love (such as a spouse) even if it is just occasional. I am not certain obviously but the trouble seems very similar to mine. I also noticed the cost is way less than for pills. I hope it works out for you all, I just really do think that maybe the longterm withdrawl from the opiates is much more powerful and mood altering than most give credit for. I too am knowingly throwing away my family but at the same time, I feel as though if I can just hold on to it for just a couple more months, I will rise back and be a better man like I was before my initial injury. Good luck. Opiates have seriously underestimated fang length. The WD's don't stop after the sickness, they continue for months and even years. Give the guy a break but just ask him to at least be honest.

I think that it may just be because he is new to it again, and because he drinks on it. I think you are downplaying the severity of drinking alcohol while taking methadone, as this can potentiate the methadone to a dangerous point.

Very good point about the alcohol and methadone mix. It can be very potent.

30mgs of methadone is too a low dose
Opiate Addicts who usually take low doses are still addicted and combine regular opiates on top of M-dose to get a high,

(duh) that's where all the money is going ( ++ + + more opiates to do on top of methadone | Heroin or other opioids )

_ _ _Granted that drinking is not good and could cause sever symptoms, but 30mgs is too low for someone to be "nodding" and " fidgety "

all I read from this was., that mixing Alcohol and Methadone is never a good idea

dont listen to the person above me. hes NOT going out and buying more opiates. he is drinking. on methadone. the end. Ask him not to drink one day or watch him before he starts drinking and he shouldnt be acting as you say. simple as that. alcohol and methadone. Kind of similar to someone being on benzos and methadone.

I PMed her & got the whole story....trust me hes using opiates. Dont ALWAYS make assumptions you dont know the 100% answer to. I defenetly wont go into her business but hes using opiates & she knows that know. Actually I HATE mixing alcohol & meth everybodys different & you just cant tell her "oh hes not doing anything but alcohol" when there really isnt enough info to support it.
