Opioids methadone overdose

ok, today I have taken 10 10mg methadone tablets, 2 at a time starting from about 3pm to now which is almost 2am. Ive been in severe pain so ive been taking them frequently. I just want to know if im taking too many because I now ppl who are prescribed other high end pain meds like oxy contin and take more than this but I hear methadone is more harmful for some reason. can someone give me advice? should I like find another pain med to go along with this instead of taking it as often as I did?
 
I take it you have some form of an opiate tolerance?

100mg of methadone in a day isn't unheard of for MMT patients, or pain patients.

I would use less of it, and if you are still in pain, yeah I would try to find something to go along with it.

However you aren't going through "too much" in a traditional sense, just a moderate to high dosage.

Methadone can cause toxicity in people who are on too high of a dosage, and the level where methadone can cause this will vary.
 
It's also worthwhile to note that methadone takes a long time to wear off (has a long half life) so if you keep on dosing it builds up in your system. There are people who overdose because they try and get high two nights in a row but they are still a little high from the first night when they take it the second night. This is one of the things that makes it more dangerous than some of the other opiates and may have been what you heard about it.
 
There is no too much for pain management, as people all have different tolerances, but as far as pain treatment, your doctor should give you some idea of your dosage you should be on, but as a rule, take as little as possible, and work your way up until you are getting good pain relief.

A friend of mine and i had taken a bunch of methadone one night and the next day we were vomititing the next day all day and we both had a opiate tolerance yet we didnt take as much as you did we also didnt know about the half life.Just be careful cause it can make you very sick the next day...
