methadone maintenance

I am not sure wether this goes in the dark side or not so i am sorry if it does. I was wondering if anybody on this board is on methadone maintenance? I have been an opiate addict for a short time now, about a year, and cannot control it unlike some of the luckier people out there. I have been to in and out patient programs but i keep going back and am looking at methadone matience as an option. I was just wondering if anybody is on this can tell me the +s and -s of the program. thanks.

Just to give a little more information, i had been doing oxys on and off for 3 years, not daily but more like 5-10 times a month that ws the first 2 years no really negative side effects. Then i started doing heroin, when i didnt have dope i did oxys or dalauid and have been doing it daily for about 8 months, enough to get sick i had a decnet tolenrece built up and was doing 5-10 bags a day. I went to rehab an in patientent program for thirty days, stayed clean once igot out for 2 weeks, then i went back to oxys and h and withen 2 days i had my tolerence back. Since i am 18 the methadone maintenance program they have set up for me is for 180 days, build me up take me off, whilei look for a job go back to school and do all the other recovery related things.
