Hey there BL'ers, I've got a pretty simple question here that hopefully a more seasoned MMT patient can answer. I've been on MMT and Sober (EVERYTHING except bud) for ~4 months. My current dose is 75mg, it's where I'm comfortable and I would rather not go up again if I don't have to. I am in southern Illinois guest dosing at a clinic that is closed on Sundays. This means I get one take home on Saturday, which is something I've never had. I know I'm supposed to be sober, but I want to get just a little bit of nostalgia. I probably won't ever have take-homes again after leaving here, so I'm gonna take a little extra to get a nice buzz.

Today I took my usual 75mg plus 50% of my take home for a total of 110mg. That was 2.5 hours ago and I'm not really feeling much of anything. Could I get away with taking the rest, or am I just not gonna be able to get any kind of buzz because I've been on MMT for 4 months. Thanks in advance for your prompt and concise answers!

I think you can get away with taking the rest but I wouldn't do it. If you're looking for a high, forget it because you aren't going to get it from your methadone. When I first started MMT I used to do this occasionally and it was always a fail. It is better to save your methadone for when you need it. It's just not worth it because you aren't going to get a buzz or anything.

It was always a failure as in: you took doses more than double your daily dose and didn't even get a little intoxicated? I'm starting to experience that firsthand, no opiate-like feelings. That's methadone working the way it's supposed to. It's a testament to the sheer power of this drug. I've never taken a drug that builds tolerance faster than methadone, so I guess be wary of getting on MMT if you're not fairly serious about getting sober...

^ I've taken doses more than double my daily intake and I still never got a buzz. It's just a waste. No matter how much I try and no matter what opioid I take and in what quantity - I still can't get high like I used to.

Same here.. It won't work. Methadone blocks not only other opiates, but it blocks itself in a sense.. Your opiate receptors are saturated to the point where euphoria is impossible, all you have to look forward to is heavy sedation and a good chance of overdose.

Yes, by all means go easy on the 'done. My mother died from this drug. And she was the quintessential drug addict-ten times the joneser that I admittedly am. It has a huge half life and can stay in your body for two or three days, and it also amplifies any other drug you take while it's still in your system. And never mix it with Xanax unless you want to OD. Please be careful trying to get a buzz by taking more methadone. You may end up on a morgue slab instead.
