okay i have herd a few different views on benzo wd and opiate wd speekin from experience the benzo wd are far worse,,after maybe 2 days my wd start to kick in from running out of my benzos and its no less than hell on the body joint pain muscle pains etc one of the ones i hate more than most are the spasms,,i wind up haveing to wrap my self all up in blankets and wrap my arms in there good to ,i wind up violently spasing to the point i hurt myself ,like cuting myself up with my fingure nails etc,or i spas to the point im hitting everything in site and theres no control over it at all cept waiting till i get more benzos ,,clonazepams temazepams and seroquel etc then i fine like instantly soon as they take effect im good again,,anyway METHADONE ,,im taking methadone for my opiate abuse and though it realy seems to work its absolutley gross and also has terible wds within hours of going without after the last dose 24 hrs to maybe 30 hours the wds are terrible,,what i was wondering i know that methadone is to help with the detox etc from opiates ,,and doesnt do a damn thing for benzo wds cause i get the wds from benzos every month from running out early for a couple days,,in the begining i thought methadone would help me with the benzo problem to but finding out it didnt ,,so the question is besides tapering ,,which would probably take at least a year to get off my benzo problem ,,isnt there anything out there to act the same way methadone works for opiates,,cept working for benzo wds and taking something that helps as fast as methadone works for opiates cept working on benzos,,any kinda help would be appreciated ,,though i think most replies would recomend a slow taper8o

You want like a benzo maintenence drug? I'd suggest Klonipin, taken 3 x daily. Good, potent benzo. But many doctors would prescribe Valium for slow taper. There isn't really such a thing as benzo maintence. If you need something easy to get just to get you through benzo wd's now try valerian root (sold at health food type stores), it will help. What benzos and how much are you scripted a month? By the way Seroquel is not a benzo, and isn't a drug I'd recommend, it just makes me feel tired and worse. On another note, if you don't like methadone, you could see about switching to buprenorphine (Subutex/Suboxone). Better drug.

I'm sorry to tell you that there is no form of Benzo maintenance miracle drug that will help you through withdrawals painlessly.

The only way to do it Is through tapering, although I doubt it will take you a year. I was heavily in the grips of Benzo addiction with extreme dosing that was getting out of control and making my life difficult as all hell. By going on a Clonazepam taper with its long half life I was able to slowly wean off Benzodiazepines over a few months. I supplemented the clonazepam with Lyrica because I had issues with seizures and IMO Lyrica in conjunction with Clonazepam is a sure fire way to kick a benzo habit safely.
