I guess I should start with the basics. I was spending the evening with my friend S and his girlfriend J in S's motel room.
J (19-years-old, 6'1", 165 lbs)
S (16-years-old, 5'3", 105 lbs)
Me(19-years-old, 5'7", 118 lbs)
Yesterday the three of us were hoping to find some speed because J had just got some money early in the afternoon. All our dealers were out though, waiting for a new shipment to come into town later that night. We were at one house, trying to see if anybody had some speed when our friend C showed up there. C had some methadone and wondered if we were interested.
I had heard of methadone, but never tried it. C said it was like synthetic heroin but I've never had heroin either. Anyway, S and J had never had methadone either. I thought it sounded like fun to try a new drug though. So S handed over the money and we were given 15 pills. C told us to start with about 4 pills each.
S, J, and I went back to the motel room and tried to decide how many to take. S and I were going to be cautious and start with about 2, but then J took 4. We teased her telling her since she was only 105 lbs she was gonna die. She freaked out and insisted we take more so S took two more and I took 1 more. I looked at my watch and it was 8:05.
We left to see if we could find our friend K and maybe get some speed from him. We picked up K and dropped him off at his dealers house. While we waited in the car, J started to get really fucked up from the pills. It had only been 20 minutes and I wasn't feeling a thing, so I took my 4th pill.
K couldn't get the speed so we went back to the motel. I was getting impatient because it was now 8:40 and I wasn't feeling anything. Course I had no idea what to expect since I had never tried methadone. J was acting drunk and it was hard to tell how S was feeling because he had got fucked up on Vikaden earlier in the day. Then at about 5 minutes till 8:00 I started feeling the methadone kicking in and I started getting really talkative too.
We had to go pick up K and his girlfriend Z and while I was driving I got a pretty good headspin and got kinda dizzy. I felt really happy and in a good mood though, and kept laughing at things. By the time we returned to the motel room it was 8:45. By now driving was taking all my concentration and I couldn't even walk strait. I was feeling somewhat nauseated too and everything seemed to be spinning.
As soon as we got inside the room, I laid down on the bed. It was around 10:00 and I let my eyes fall shut. Everybody thought I was asleep, but I wasn't. I was in a whole other world! I have never had anything quite like that happen to me. I closed my eyes, but saw things as plainly as if my eyes were open. I kept forgetting my eyes WERE closed in fact. I could see all around the room, the furniture, the people, everything---but my eyes were closed and everything I was seeing was different than what the room was actually like. But it didn't seem strange. It seemed perfectly natural to be in this room I had never been in, with friends I didn't know. I could see their lips moving as they talked to me, but coudln't hear what they were saying.
At one point when I closed my eyes, I saw this piece of paper floating in the sky with writing on it. I don't remember now what it said, but there was a lot of writing and I was laying there reading the whole thing. It was plain as day. Then there was a newspaper that I was reading too and it seemed so real I thought it was, until K asked me if I was asleep and I opened my eyes and the newspaper dissapeared.
Another interesting thing I particularly remember seeing was this small lamp I was looking at. Somebody reached their hand down and lifed the shade off this lamp. As they lifted it off, the lightbulb became too hot and melted itself. The melty lightbulb smeared upwards as the lampshade was lifted off. It was very strange and trippy, but I saw it so vividly that I thought it had really happened at first. Then I realized my eyes were shut.
I got very hot so I took off my long-sleaved shirt and put on a T-shirt and laid back down, to once more enjoy the closed-eye visuals I was seeing. This lasted for the next several hours. Now and then I would open my eyes and sit up and try to engage in conversation with S and J, but I found I only got frustrated because J was talking non-stop and kept cutting me off if I tried to say anything. So then I would lay back down and return to my own little world. K and Z left again to try to find speed so it was just S, J, and me.
Finally at about 2:30am I started drifting in and out of sleep. J woke me up at 4:00am and said she and S were going to bed. From what they told me later, I said I was going to stay up and wait for the speed to come, but apparently I laid right back down and went to sleep. I didn't even stir until 11:30am today when S's boss came pounding on the door telling him it was time to go to work.
I sat up sleepily, still feeling really out of it. When I got up to use the bathroom I felt sick again. I laid back down on the bed, smoked a cigarette, and went back to sleep. J and I both stayed in bed until about 4:30pm, waking up off and on, just long enough to have a smoke. I still felt dazed, dissoriented, and fucked up. I tried to drive to Wal-Mart but that was scary and dangerous and I almost wrecked.
By 8:00pm (24 hrs since I took the methadone) I still felt really out of touch with reality. And despite all the sleep, I still felt really tired. I tried to find some speed to wake me up, but everybody was still out and K and Z seemed to have dissapeared. So I decided to go home and try to get some sleep.
Anyway, methadone was deffinately interesting and the closed-eye visuals were real trippy. However, I don't think I'll be in a big hurry to try it again. If you have any comments I would be interested. I'd especially be interested in hearing anybody elses methadone experiences. I can be e-mailed at [email protected]
