Methadone feela like Tramadol

Hi everybody. This is my first post here and hoping to get some good feedback. I have been lurking for years though and get a lot of good info from this site. Anyways...

I have just started Methadone Maintanance a few days ago and get some pretty weird side effects very much like Tramadol. It feels almost the same. I know both are NMDA antagonists. Which most likely accounts for the weird side effects. Vertigo, extreme tiredness, twitching, restless muscles like i keep finding myself arching my back when lying down unconsciously or any other muscle straining, dysphoria. The Methadone is not enjoyable at all and just feels really weird and dirty. I dont know if ill be on it for much longer. Anyone else ever experience this? Is this something that will go away over time? Anh feedback would be great! Thanks!

Are you taking anything else that affects your serotine levels?

Those are signs of serotonine syndrome which can be fatal too.

Have you tried to lower the methadone dose?

Yes, i take 150mgs Buprion(wellbutrin) daily. My dose is only 35 mgs but they are working me up to 50. 5mgs every other day. I also take about 100-150mgs Trazadone for sleep.

Gotta be a drug interference going on. Done should not be doing that to you but its definitely not a natural opiate and you might just not be reacting to it like others do. Your body might just cope well with synthetic opes

As far as other painkillers go, no. Its weird though because ive always enjoyed Methadone in the past and figured it would be the same but nope its really funky. I dont know if they use a different formula for clinics but i was under the impression thag they used Levomethadone but i guess not. Also, i get a weird nauseous feeling and never ever nod off or feel good when i take it.

Buprion affects to some liver enzymes which might cause Methadone to have higher plasma concentration than normally. Not sure about how Methadone works in liver though.

They definately both affect serotonine system and those symptoms are related to that so if I were you I would drop the amount of methadone as low as possible and then discuss with the Dr. about it asap.

I can't do more than 15mg a day at the most. I do well on 10mg to start and this is coming from a 120mg+ daiy opana user. Can't mix anything with it either or like you, I feel icky.

As someone else mentioned, it could be SS symptoms with you, and that's scary.
