Guys, this thread seems to be spiraling out of control, and advice is being given that is dangerous and not in the spirit of Harm Reduction. What might not even get one person
buzzed, may very well kill another person. It depends on so many different variables that it's really impossible, especially with a drug like Methadone to give advice on dosages when the goal is to achieve euphoria.
If people don't chill the fuck out and stop disrecting others and spreading ludicrous information, this thread is going to be closed. Methadone is not a drug to be taken lightly. I'm not going to sit here and judge anyone for using it to get high, as I've been there before, but I will say that it has compromised my health to the point where I've been unconscious n a hospital bed for three days, only to awaken as a catheter was being yanked from my urethra.
Things to consider when taking methadone, especially with a low tolerance:
-It has a long onset and long duration. just because you're not high after an hour doesn't mean that you didn't take enough. The first time I took methadone (for recreational purposes), I bought a 100mg and started off with 30mg. I waited two hours and didn't feel anything so assumed that what I has been sold was either watered down, or that methadone was a lot weaker than I expected. I brilliantly then decided to just drink the remaining 70mg. An hour later the most intense, overwhelming high started to hit me, and I litterally blacked out, and woke up in my bed about 36 hours later. I'm lucky to be alive. The lesson from this experience is
always wait at least 2-3 hours before redosing, and if you do re-dose, only take a small amount more.
-It has a long half life. Methadone has a half life ranging from 24-48 hours. This makes it dangerous to use multiple days in a row, even if your not upping your dosage. Say you took 20mg yesterday, and now, 24 hours later, you decide to take another 20.. Well, you've still got about 10mg of Methadone in your system from the day before, so taking 20mg would really be more like taking 30mg. For detox and maintenance, this long half life comes in handy as it allows the medication to build up in your system over a period of about 1-2 weeks, creating a state of stability. For people just taking the drug to get high, this can work against them, and lead to an overdose.
Lastly, metabolism and potentiator's. There are Certain foods, supplements and medications that one should avoid when taking methadone, such as
P-glycoprotein Inhibitors,
CYP2D6 inhibitors,
and MAOI's.
