methadone + diazepam + doxylamine safe to take for sleepin? (added info on doxepine!)

So I ate 20 mg diazepam after my (negligible and mostly resin as a I was running out) morning dose of H, at about 9 am. When the WD set in and I couldn't bear it anymore, I took 60mg of mdone and another 20 mg of diaz along with 60 mg DXM to potentiate, at 5 pm.

I've always suffered from insomnia, so would taking 25 mg doxepine be dangerous? Just in case the benzos don't do the trick.

I've also got some more benzos, H and methadone, but I'm trying to conserve those, as I'm running low and won't be able to restock until next month. I've got a high tolerance to opiates and a smallish one to benzos, if that helps.

Any replies would be much appreciated!

Well, doxepine is a tricyclic antidepressant.. can't see any immediate interactions but it isn't a common one in the UK so I wouldn't like to say for sure. I occasinally use low dose amitriptyline (another tricyclic) for sleep and have done so after opiates but only when desperate - I'm not a fan of using psychotropic medications for something other than their intended use as you are messing with your neurochemnistry and there may well be unknown interactions..

You could try a sedating antihistamime (any of the first generation ones tend to be good - promethezine, hydroxyzine and dyphenhydramine for example) which is less likely to have interactions? Or something like zopiclone or zolpidem? You do need a prescription for a lot of these however so I appreciate you might not have access.. and bear in mind it is possible to get hooked on the z-drugs as well as on benzos.

Low dose doxepine (3-6mg) is licensed for insomnia, so be aware that you would be taking much more than the recommended amount, but I can't see any obvious interactions. Weigh it up and see how you feel! Good luck, insomnia is horrible at the best of times let alone when you are having opiate WDs too...
 
Thanks for the elaborate answer. I seem to have made a mistake in my initial post, actually I've got doxylamine here, not doxepine. It's sold OTC here as a sleep aid. Still, some great info in your post, thanks for taking the time!

I've decided I won't take it tonight anyway, the diazepam is finally kicking in and I'm sipping on a nice cup of chamomile/St John's Worth at the moment, which I can really recommend for sleeping troubles.

Aha no worries, in that should be fine :) but yeah I love chamomile tea, really helps me chill out.. glad you are feeling sleepy sweet dreams to you too!

you should be fine. just expect the usual drowsiness. i take anti-histamines every time i take opiates.

Doxylamine is an antihistamine, like benedryl (diphenhydramine). I take the latter regularly as a sleep aid and I've tried the former a few times as NyQuil. I find doxylamine to be nicely sedating, but short-lived, and with the delirant-like hallucinations you can get from high doses of any antihistamine, I wouldn't think it very well suited to recreational use.
 
Slept like a brick, didn' t even wake up during the night, quite unusual for me. Gotta love them benzos, too bad you have to be fucking careful and take long breaks, days like yesterday are the exception, I really needed the calm and sedation

It's called Hoggar Night, sold in 10 or 20 packs with 25mg per tab. I usually go with diphenhydramine as a sedating antihistamine, but they were out of stock. I've never found drugs of this class to have recreational value, I normally just use them for opiate potentiation or in case my hay fever acts up. Delusions and spiders aren't my thing ;)
