Ok this might be a stupid question, but im gonna try and start going to the methadone clinic and i have a bunch of worries. If i have kids will there be any SRS involvement with CPS? Or if i was pregnant? (Im not my friend was asking if her baby would get taken) The same friend is going through a pretty rough divorce amd wanted to know if he could find out, he has NO idea she is using at least to the extent she is. My ex husband knows but seriously worried about this causinf problems with custody and all that. my ex doest want the kids taken from me but hers definately does. Anyway i have no idea what will happen but really ready to start on a program and get on umm A track in life...but i dont want my children taken from me obviously...

I can't say with any certainty with the "war on drugs" mentality in the legal system. Methadone would be a good solution as opposed to heroin but if the ex-husband finds out, he can be vindictive and call CPS. I imagine if there was an investigation on grounds of drug abuse, CPS would want to know everything she's taking. I'm speculating though, and she really needs an attorney for the best advice.

you will have no problems with CPS through you being a patient at a clinic. many clinics allow children to come in while you are receiving your dose. most are very understanding and there to help all types of people in all types of situations/lives to live a better life. if you are pregnant you will most likely get directed towards a buprenorphine clinic. being involved with a maintenance program in no way should involve any threat in taking your children away. if you have a baby on MMT the child will typically be kept at the hospital for an extended stay and slowly given lower (very small) doses of morphine to detox the baby with out causing shock. this is why i think you would be turned to a bupe clinic as it creates less distress on the new born.

agreed with T.Calderone where the problems come in with concerns of CPS is with the ex-husband coming in and contacting CPS and reporting a problem. in which a case manager would be making a contact and a visit to investigate the living situation. you being in a program and having a safe home for your kids and are provided for you should be just fine even if they were contacted.

i would tighten up your game's.. and cut some stress for you and your kids. hope you are able to get things on a straighter path and to stick with it, cause you can!!

Thanks guys! I feel much better about my situation anyways. Im really tired of this crap anf motivated to start moving in the right direction. my ex is very supportive and i have no worries that he would call cps...now my friend on the other hand. i dont really know why she asked about being pregnant because i asked her if she was and she said not (thank god!!) Her ex is an abusive alcoholic and very mean and vindictive in general i feel so bad for her...i can understand why she would be nervous to start on a program. I feel like this would be the best option for both us though. I wish i had sone better news for her though the way i see it he would have called cps already if he was going to i mean its not a mystery whats going on...im really going to try and encourage her to start..hope its not a bad idea :(

it is great that you have the support and understanding from your ex, that is really huge! stay positive on the track of wanting to tack care of yourself so you can give loads and loads of love to those wonderful kids!!

sounds like your friend is dealing with some pretty heavy things. just try and give her the support and encouragement that you can and hopefully she feels/hears some of it. but really focus on you and your want to better your life for you and your kids. if any thing you could be a great example/inspiration for your friend to look up to as you move forward in a positive, proactive way. hope all goes well and you have a clinic/doc in place to start things up... you totally can/will do great!!

I have seen people with their children both at the methadone dr's office and the pharmacy dispensing methadone and I've been to several different pharmacies and seen a variety of meth/sub dr's and it seemed to be the norm. I would call and ask the clinic you are going to just to make sure.
