Methadone and ???

I am currently housing a family member who is on methadone treatment.... High dose of 150mg. Many nights she nods heavily... Like really cross eyed heavy. I have also seen her do this mid-day. She takes "heart burn medicine" and I've noticed the nodding gets bad afterward. Is this causing the nod?? Lots of inconsistency & I suspect something fishy. Trying to help but making too many sacrifices to be fu**ing around. Ideas? Comments??

Benzo abuse is common among methadone maintenance patients. I was on 180mg per day. The only time I would get a heavy nod was when i was taking Benzos. When you mix the two you get a tremendous high. I wouldn't doubt they were taking xanex or some other benzo. Methadone does make you very tired but you can tell the difference between tired and high.
 
Yes I've suspected that.. I know she gets anxiety meds prescribed & that she also has a really great hookup for just about everything... Definitely looks high as a kite so I know it's more than just the methadone. Thanks for response
 
Yea I'd pretty much bet all I got on xanex and I've never seen her ha when I was on methadone I did so much xanex
 
She's so unhealthy :( if it is Xanax I really worry.... She eats nothing but sugar, drinks Pepsi & smokes... About 80lbs overweight & breathing is strained... She has 3 kids- I just don't want her to die on my couch :(
 
Thank you.... I wonder if tagament would be powerful enough to cause the intense effect- slurring, nodding out mid conversation, cross eyes... Kinda thinking benzoS...or both
 
If she gets benzos prescribed for her anxiety, that's what she's probably mixing in with the methadone......that mix has & can kill anyone.

I'm sure she has a big tolerance to both, so she may be fine, but there's a thin line between nodding out cross eyed & overdosing.
 
Chances are if she has a "hookup" or gets medications for anxiety then they are probably making the opioids way stronger. Combining benzos and methadone to the point where you're struggling to breathe is a warning sign... the combination of methadone and benzos is one of the most lethal... and the most difficult to detox from.
