Opioids Methadone and dark brown mucus???

Hi all. I've been using opiates for quite a few years. Dones are by far my DOC, and as of late i've been particularly concerned with one strange side effect i've noticed. EVERYTIME i take dones about 2 hours after i dose i begin to develop dark brown mucus in my nose. It appears for about 12 hours after my dose. I dont snort them either. I always pop them. I know its prolly nothing too serious, just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed this phenomena? I find it very strange, whereas i NEVER have this problem with any other opiate. My nose doesn't run or anything, its actually quite dry, and its not like a huge buildup or anything, i just notice if i blow my nose theres always VERY VERY dark brown mucus covering the entire inside of both nostrils. I've never experienced having mucus this dark anytime in my life, which is why it is unsettling to me. Its very hard to describe. btw here are my 'stats', i'm 27, 135 lbs, my average dose is 80mg of dones, i have a pretty high tolerance to every opiate, and i dose once every 2-3 days on average. any help, past experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks all!

That sounds very unusual. From my general knowledge I'm sure it's caused by other factors. Do you smoke? Are you around a dusty environment and etc.. But to be 1000000% sure you need to ask the doctor. Kind regards, Blowingclouds.

yes i do smoke, no i am not around a dusty environment. as i said i NEVER have this symptom when im not on dones, or when i take any other opiate. it ONLY happens after i dose on dones. its the strangest thing. its been happening to me for months now. it really rattled me because im red colorblind and when id blow my nose the brown hue on the tissue looked like blood to me. i asked my old lady to identify the color a handful of times and she always says it just looks really dark brown/dark green. its very unusual. and btw i dont have insurance so i CANNOT afford to go see a doctor for him to just tell me he has no idea whats causing it either lol

Yeah this is not a common side effect from methadone... I don't think it's related.

It's probably from smoking especially if you exhale out your nose. Most smokers I know who use opiates tend to smoke a whole lot more cigs when they got a good opiate buzz going. But if it is really concerning you the best bet would be to have a doctor check it out.

yes i do smoke a bit more on dones, however smoking a pack and a half as opposed to a pack isnt going to make THAT big of a difference. also i do not exhale through my nose. this has happened FAR too many times for it to be coincidential. EVERY time i have taken dones in the past 6 months, which would be upwards of 75 times i've noticed this. but ONLY on days that i took dones. NOT ONCE has it happened on a day that i didnt dose, or took a different opiate. last night i experimented, and took my dose late at night, bout 3 or 4 hours before bed. woke up, blew my nose, DARK BROWN MUCUS!!!! i definitely wasnt smoking in my sleep, or around a high dust or debris environment! i've never awoke with mucus like that before. this is definitely directly related to the dones...i just cannot figure out why for the life of me. and as i said before, i dont have insurance and CANNOT afford a doc visit for him to be just as fucking clueless as me. hes just gonna tell me to stop taking the methadones, now pay me $1000. lol. sad but true. if anyone can think of ANY kind of direct correlation for this symptom i would greatly appreciate it! thx for the help guys. bluelight for life!
