Nah what it was is they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me (I had some rare form of reactive arthritis that was damaging my joints) and instead of trying other things he just kept switching opiates and upping the doses...he had a "thing" about opiates. I'd only been on them 6 months and he had me on diamorphine linctus (which they don't make anymore...just injections and tablets).
Generally the doses of methadone for pain are higher than for WDs as it's prescribed three times per day for pain as it's analgesic duration is only about 8 hours whereas 24hours+ for WDs.
The only thing in my favor is that after 20 years I'm not in a hurry. Don't get me wrong I want to be off as soon as but I'm gonna take it fast while I can and slow at the end. Also probably switch to subs at the end. Incidentally with subs it's the opposite. When I was prescribed it for pain it was the temgesic which were either 20 or 200mcg (I forget). As you know, for WDs it's mg amounts and often 20+mg
