Methadone : A Question

In the distant past, a nameless person mentioned
that if one were to say...take a wee bit of the above mentioned substance, and was a person who was NOT habituated to the use of opiates [ what so ever] that this person would and could use said substance for recreational purposes.
Does anyone or can anyone substanciate this rumor?

little ol' alert seems to remember getting lit off methadone damn near every night this past summer....
yes, methadone *WILL* get you high, and I was ingesting methadone in pill-form...
 
I've taken lotsa methadone and felt nothing as far as recreation goes...and I had no opiate tolerance. Furhtermore, I think this crap is completely ineffective at treating pain. Imo, narcotic withdrawal is the only thing it's good for.
 
Methadone seems to effect people diferently.
I dont really see the point of it as it just dosnt seem to get me high at all, thats IVing it.
the first time i ever had it though, I had 20mgs in liquid form & was really fucked up -it was great!
I dont have a HUGE opiate tolerance so I think its really strange that I've never felt any effects since, I have friends that love the shit & are bouncing off the walls after having the same dosage as me.
If you do decide to give it a go & you like it, be warned, the withdrawl is much worse than herion.Apparently.
 
I have somewhat of an opiate tolerance and I have been able to abuse methadones fine! I just take 2 of the square ones and I get pretty messed up. They are really popular where I live, and everyone seems too like to snort them.(never tried this and don't plan on it!)

wow, does anyone know why only some people can get messed up on methadone? I never met a person who doesn't get high on them until I read this post. Interesting....
 
You don't get high because it doesn't cross the blood brain barrier very well. It is not fun, they wouldn't give the crap away at clinics if it was.
 
I have never found methadone to be that great of a drug, but is sure as fuck gets me high. Here in the Dallas area most of the clinics provide methadone in a liquid form and if I recall correctly 30-40 mg had me feeling pretty good.
But at the price I was paying it was more economically feasible and a better high to run downtown and get some smack.
If you have no opiate tolerance and little experience with them in general, methadone will almost surely have a positive desired effect.
 
my roomate recently got a few of them. He has no tolerance. He did oxy like twicce. ANyway he seemed to like them..
He snorted his and he said it burned really bad.
 
My 2 cents: To answer the question, it is possible to get high from methadone. I know from 1st hand. I love the stuff, me and my friends have had discussions of whether we prefer methadone to oxycontin. I like methadone because it lasts long, like day 2 im still good. It takes 3 hours to peak, its slow to kick in. But 30 mgs oral is like 60mgs oxy oral, maybe more. Everyone I know gets off great with the stuff, but apparently its not as good for everyone. Know your source too, liquid is too easily manipulated. I got pills that say methadose 10 on them, also generics too but 100 pill bottles. The liquid I got was never as good.

"When you take methadone it first must be metabolized in the liver to a product that your body can use. Excess methadone is also stored in the liver and blood stream and this is how methadone works its 'time release trick' and last for 24 hours or more (Inturrisi and Verebey, 1972). The higher the dose the more that is stored. This is why patients on blockade doses (70 mg/day or more) are able to go for a day or two without their medication. Of course the down side to this is that when a patient misses a dose they will begin to "destabilize" which places them at risk of overdose should they attempt to administer heroin. They are slowly loosing the blockade effect of methadone and may begin to experience drug hunger and craving. "
"Once in the blood stream metabolized methadone is slowly passed to the brain when it is needed to fill opiate receptors. In no way do vitamins interfere with the binding of methadone to the opiate receptor where methadone mimics the endorphins. "
Note that "slowly passed" part... it is pretty important.
Taking a bunch up your ass or in your arm won't work. You just can't get high from it.

So it doesn matter how much methadone you take. A small dose will do the same as a larger dose. The onlt differnce is that the larger dose will last longer.
Also, that "time release trick" cant be beat. It's not like you can crush up the pills and get an instant release of the med.
 
blahblahblah- Yes I have always injected methadone from liquid form & it's always been clear although I have seen a friend bang his stuff that was orange.
The most I've ever had was 50mgs I felt nothing, I had a bit of a opiate tolerance at that point, but nothing crazy. No rush.
BUT that first time was 20mgs , orally & I got REALLY stoned, that was my first opiate experience perhaps having zero tollerace is the key? but then that dosent explain why people continue to get high off it does it?
All the methadone i've had has been in New Zealand, I have no idea about the American programe.
