Meth: The Surge?

I haven't been visiting this board quite as often as I used to due to a lack of questions that catch my interest. However, I did notice an abundance of Meth related questions recently. The reason I find this interresting is because many of my friends are turning to "tweek," as peeps in my area call it, more and more often. Is this a national trend? Is it because it's the easiest for a "regular Joe" to make? Any input/comments/ideas/theories?

THe "surge" of meth use started back in the mid 90s. I was in hawaii where it has been growing in popularity since the 80s. I read a artical in rolling stone a tweaker friend had saved. It was from 94 I think and it talked of americas new drug epidemic.They said that meth use was spreading from the west coast across the country, basicly because of our fast paced lives and the need for speed. It probable has a lot to do with how easly it can be made, but I think the real surge stems from people working to many hours, trying to go to school and still have a social life( or moms who have to take kids to school, clean house, do laundry, pick up kids from school , help with there homework, make dinner, be intrested in your spouses day, make sweet lovin , work work work work and so on.) THats my theory at least

I think another part of it is the fact that all the people who used to roll (take MDMA) in the 1990s have burnt out and lost the magic, and turned to meth instead. I know that's true for me and many of my friends, at least.

Am I the only person who doesn't get off on meth? I can smoke a quarter gram of glass and have no body buzz to speak of whatsoever, I just feel *very* alert and awake, and very sweaty, not to mention shaky. I don't understand a drug that doesn't get me "high".
The funny thing is, plain 'ole amphetamine will make me feel very nice at 60mg oral doses.

The effects just vary that much from person to person. For me it's very comparable to rolling, relating to body high and mood.

It just always seems to be available and popular, until people get burnt out of course. Even so, more and more am I meeting people tweaking at parties and whatnot..

In my opinion, the recent "surge" of meth in society is because of how many people in our society think the faster the better. They use meth to keep up with the fast pace that we live in. People don't want to miss out on things and if they stay awake while on meth then they won't miss out. Also the recent surge of meth usage may be become it is more easily readible than it was like 8-10 years ago. It is easily made. People also found out that for the price $45-$50 for a 1/4, you get a lot out of it. True it is pretty pricy but for the buck, you get a whole lot more bang out of it. That is just some of the many reasons behind this "surge". It is here and will be for a long time so be prepared for some long ass sleepless days people !!
