I am an addict and want to get sober. I am having trouble finding any where that treats meth addiction. I live in the houston/galveston area. I need a place to go or someone that knows how to get off this crap. I have already lost so much and I am ready for a change. Please if anyone can tell me where to start I would be grateful.

12-Step programs aren't perfect, but they can be a good starting place and an excellent way to get to know others in recovery. CMA (Crystal Meth Anonymous) has neetings in most large metropolitan areas. They actually use the AA text (Alcoholics Anonymous, or "The Big Book") and follow the AA format for meetings. NA (Narcotics Anonymous) also has meetings almost everywhere. They have their own text (Narcotics Anonymous) but follow the same 12-Step format developed by AA.

I encourage you to attend a recovery group of some kind. Recovering addicts are the best people to associate with if you are an addict seeking recovery. Don't give up if the first meeting doesn't seem great. Shop around. There are also online resources.

Best wishes on your journey. I assure you that recovery is a lot more fun than active addiction.

Keep us posted.

It's a long game. Go two years without using and you'll have a 90% chance at success. It's not going to be easy or fun. You'll crave it a few times a day at first, I'm sure you know that already. It mostly comes into your mind when you are stressed about something else. It'll just pop in there like wanting a cigarette.

You will start to rationalize " hey I can just do a little to feel better" you know you will regret it. Your not missing anything new. You know what to do . Don't use . If you have this conversation everyday for 8 months do anything you want just don't use.

One day at a time , it will get easier to say " no not today" .

Time heals a lot. But with this stuff time away from it is the only real treatment and ultimately the cure.

Last time I used was 2008. Back then it was expensive. Now it's cheaper and everyone is doing it. But you know what you need to do.

Two years without. Then two more years without. At which point you will be in recovery.

For the next two years this is your only objective. Everything else needs to take a backseat to this goal. Some say sobriety, I say just stay off the dope.

You won't feel right for a while. You'll wonder why it's so hard to stay away from your friends and connections but you gotta do it for yourself.
You'll have days when you'll sit and stare at your phone knowing in 15 minutes you could go get it. But then all that struggle starts over.

Give yourself two years.
You might turn into a lazy asshole, you might be so angry and annoyed with people you want to shake them. You might get so sad you don't care anymore. None of it matters as long as you stay the course.

Two years you'll be one of the 5% that breaks the cycle.

Two mother fucking years , one day at a time.
After two years , the next two years are much better mentally.
