hey guys..first of all NO NEED to tell me how dumb IVing is in your wrist - used to be acceptable for me but I do just fine in the crooks of me arms and always end up doing something fucked up to myself anywhere in the forearm. with not ever usin those anymore and them rolling a shit ton to begin with it did indeed roll and girl missed a bit in / near my thumb join and wrist joint but way closer to thumb. it's hot, my wrist is hot to touch, the crook of my elbow is even hot to the touch. it looked like there was a faint red line running up the backside of my arm which confused me. anyway, I told her also that I have 2 ol' faithfuls in the crook of my arm I fought to no end wanting to use but she wouldn't hear it and I had pressure from another person to just let her do it in my hand. I lost feeling it turned red from my wrist probably to my thumb. my fingers have been turning blue-ish? I've had random bruising that goes away and comes back on my other hand that i didn't even hit ?? I had a really horrific psychosis last night but that's for another thread..my upper arm is also now getting sore just as though I have a pulled muscle or something. the mobility in my thumb is certainly not the same range as my other.

thanks guys..I'm experienced with having to deal with this crap but the joint part worries me and the hand part = double worry. 8(

oh shit...Wish i could help...Watch the red line dude...If it travels any further you may need to think about getting your ass to a clinic or ER...My arm turned black and went numb from my elbow to my hand once when i IVed alot of speed..(It was 20 years ago)...fixed its self in a few hours...Freaked me though..Mate i think you should head to some medical help...MHO...All the best and good luck!

Okay. Heat, redness inc tracking redness up your arm, loss of feeling, blueish fingers and reduced mobility of thumb - this NEEDS checking out by a doctor ASAP, there really aren't two ways about it. Your wrist contains arteries and nerves (the radial artery runs near your thumb base) so there is a higher risk of hitting something untoward here than anywhere else. If she hit your artery then there is a risk of losing your hand so please get it checked out immediately!

Good luck <3

^^ Good advice from both posts IMO. If in your heart of hearts, you really feel like something's gone very wrong, there's nothing for it but to seek medical help. Don't let any fear of being judged or getting charged get between you and your physical well-being.

You nailed it on the head again effie. :)

Please go get medical attention.

Whoever noted the possibility of a rabial artery injury is dead on. I damaged my radial nerve (in a non-drug related accident....) and never regained full feeling in all of my fingers. Definitely don't want to risk anything. Go to the doc. Not worth suffering permanent damage over.

My dad damaged his radial nerve during an accident (he put his hand back to lean on a wall, except it was a window so when he shifted his weight his hand went straight through the pane of glass) and he's slowly had the nerve regrow over time (i.e. some feeling is regained slowly over time, but at a very slow rate).

There is a possibility you won't get feeling back at all depending on the type of injury though.

I agree, you want to go get medical help before its too late. Good luck OP!

Isn't the human body amazing? I had no feeling in my entire hand initially, but i got a significant amount back, after about 2 years or so. It's much better now, and I'm so thankful. Scary wondering if I'd ever feel again with that hand!!

I had the nerves that run across the top of the head severed during surgery. For a long time, the top of my head was completely numb, however the nerves also grew back slowly and surely. I've got complete feeling back now. The human body is indeed a remarkable thing.

It definitely is amazing! :) I had a nerve block for surgery, and it took a few months for 100% of the feeling to come back in one of my fingers. The feeling was 100% there the day before surgery too. :|

thank you guys for your replies!! I VERY VERY fortunately have had a lot of improvement in my hand - soaked in epsom salts, applied heat, the redness went away and the feeling came back. swelling has gone down..something's looking out for me for sure!!! I'm watching it very carefully though and if it turns bad I'm going to the ER ASAP.
