meth/ice & brain damage

Was reading up on meth at erowid and it mentioned that there is a possibility of brain damage.
My questions:
1. how true is this (basis in scientific evidence)
and
2. does the same apply for ice (methylaminorex)

1.) Pretty true. Methamphetamine is indeed neurotoxic. At lower doses (10-20 mg) it's not terribly neurotoxic however.
2.)4-MA is neurotoxic as well, more so than methamphetamine I believe.
Do a search in this forum for "meth" -- I posted some studies/nuerotoxicity info a week or so ago.
 
Tyler@vegas, I have to ask, have you actually ever gotten your hands on any methylaminorex? I mean, I've seen a few reports on erowid, and I'm sure that it must exist, but no one ever seems to claim having done it, even on bl...I'd be really curious to know more about it, if you could spare some details.
 
I read in some book about amphetamines (medical text) that methamphetamine is suspected to be neurotoxic in humans as it is in animals. It also says that the maximum daily dose shouldn't be above 25-30mg because of neurotoxic effects.
 
Ok.. back in my early party days.. 95'ish... I got some beans in quantity from a friend that claimed they were Turbo's (or that was the name he gave em at least)and that they had euphoria powder in them..
So we all dose take them to a party and everyone else doses. They were definetly not Mdxx anything..
We all stayed up at least 24 hours on oral consumption of these things.. The reason I am led to believe they were 4-ma or possibly could have been is that they came in Dexitrim capsules which is a known source of PPA, also the dose of these things was very small.. Comparable to molly size maybe larger.. THe high was very euphoric but, not an Mdxx euphoria .. they were extremly speedy but, not a meth speedy.. It is really hard to describe.. maybe all we got was some good clear in some capsules.. As I said I was younger and had really no idea in comparision as I do now as to what it was I put in my body then.. Maybe someone else could have some input on this or is familar with these pills.. I am located in the Southeast BTW...
 
There is just a complete wealth of information in this forum and in Health Q&A that covers every facet of meth abuse, the harm chronic meth use can cause, neurotoxicty, and all that fun shit..
This is being closed as we also have an abundance of "did you really take 4-MAR? No way man, you couldn't have!" posts .. also, asking if anyone else had the same gel-caps? C'mon, not a chance..
