Lately when I use methamphetamine, late in the tweak I feel like I am choking. That is, my neck feels tight. I don't really feel like I have trouble breathing, it's just uncomfortable more than anything else. TFSE didn't yield me any pertinent information on this subject. I am wondering if anyone else gets this, why I might be getting it, how it's happening and if there is anything I can do to help/relieve/prevent it.
Thanks!
ror.

is it kinda like the tight chest feeling?
cause thats what i get when i get my paws on some good stuff that i don't wanna do straight up. so i gets cut with a generous ammount of ephies
the worst is when u feel like your heart is gonna jump outta your chest cause it's beating so fast. and is 114bpm a normal resting(sitting in front of comp) heart rate for a meth/ephie combo?

I have only ever got this feeling from snorting meth. (I have never smoked organic chemicals. I prefer not to). It's not so much in my chest as actually in my throat. Almost in the back of my throat. Between Pharynx and Larynx.
ror. tha. ham.

Then I don't know what it could be, I have only felt that way after smoking too much glass.
Maybe it has something to do with hydration?

well i'm only taking a shot in the dark here. but maybe it's from blood pressure.
cause if people get it from smoking and sniffing it, it must be caused by something they have in common.
and what they do have in common are quick absorption into the body

It's anxiety, which is a common side effect of stimulant use, especially at higher doses.
How to avoid/reduce this anxiety? Take less, avoid anxiety-inducing situations and surroundings, and if really necessary, take a small dose of one of the weaker benzos to take the edge off.

won't asprin help?
it dilates your bloodvessals and it's used for people who have a heart attack to allow the blood pressure to drop.
so wouldn't it also help to relieve the anxeity?

if infact it really is panic then I'd go with fairnymph's advice. Try benzos to take the edge off. My friend at work gets panic attacks and he used to complain of the exact same feeling - a sort of choking feeling in the back of his throat - the doc. prescribed Clonazepam and its helped him out quite a bit.

Yes, asprin can help, as can benzos... when we would bang large amountf oe meth (like 1/4 shots) we would actually keep injectable Versed (midazolam) on hand... it's not uncommon, just reduce the dose/take a break in the meantime...

i never got a "tightening" in my neck feeling from snorting meth. however--i did get sort of a "choking" feeling as you are saying. i think mainly from dehydration though--even though i was drinking a lot of water and didn't feel dehydrated. however my throat was kinda "closed up"...breathing was difficult and so was swallowing. sucked cause--i couldn't breathe up my nose anyways---then i had extremem difficulty breathing through my mouth--i had to take long, shallow breaths. ugh. i think i remember being freaked out and posting in healthQ/A about it. i dunno

For a day after using meth, I have got this discomfort around my neck. It's like there's something invisible touching it. I thought it was my shirt, then my necklace, and I took off everything and kept straching my neck, trying to get rid of the feeling. I guess it's just paranioa and side effects, I have heard people who used meth getting 'meth bugs' i.e picking and straching invisible bugs off their skin. The best you can do is ignore it and try and focus on something else, unless it's really bad. I find lying in bed under a blanket helps.

this always happens to me right before/during any amphetamine comedown.
with me, i feel like my throat is swelling shut, its difficult to swollow etc..
This could *very* easily be blamed on chainsmoking, being dehydrated, and various other weird things i do when i am tweaking. Not to mention if you snort, that irritates the back of the throat easily.
i usually just stop smoking for a few hours...drink some water, get a menthol coughdrop...
you should be fine.
