Just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are about using and still taking your Anti-psychotics.

I’m prescribed 10mg olanzipene per day. But it blocked stimulant highs so much that I just take olanzipene as and when needed now . I find 10 to 20 mg can pull me out of psychosis. Along with a decent sleep and healthy food. Im 60 and without the odd bit of meth or Coke I wouldn’t have a sex life. Meth helped me lose 3 stone and I was able to come off insulin. I don’t tell my current GP about my meth use but he did say “whatever you’re doing keep doing it”

I'm prescribed 5mg olanzipine and 1mg risperidone daily.
Typically I won't take the daily dose if binging overnight until the following day when sleep is possible.
I've never experienced any complications.

However, continuing to use methamphetamine along with prescribed antipsychotics should obviously be avoided as much as possible.

Be cautious using these drugs to mediate a comedown - that can be a slippery slope to begin with, but this class of drugs are designed to regulate your mental health and behavior. I haven't personally found them to be especially helpful in comedowns.

I am prescribed abilify. I just don’t take it when using.
Abilify is weird because it's both a Dopamine Antagonist and also acts as a Dopamine Agonist. If anything, Abilify increases the effects of Meth. Unlike most antipsychotics that just decrease Dopamine and 5-HT2. Rexulti is another example of an Antipsychotic that does the same thing as Abilify. If you mix Meth or other stimulants with Abilify or Rexulti you would definitely get a Motivational boost.

How can that be possible? Talking about what you said in reference to Abilify increasing meth high a little bit. I understand that it's a Dopamine Agonist, but since it's also like you said, a Dopamine Antagonist, wouldn't that cancel out any chance of potentiation?

One thing I noticed with my risperdal is when I took it at night time I would say 60% of my meth I would vanish and I would be able to sleep

Hey @F1LTHY_Opp :)

I don´t want to bore you with superfluous information. I think you already know. If you´re taking these antipsychotics with the goal of having a life, being happy/content/stable, then using Methamphetamine is almost always going to derail the potential benefits of the treatment. It is an oversimplification, yes, but you´re taking antipsychotics while abusing a drug with an established ability to provoke psychosis.

A lot of people who use antipsychotics will say that their stimulants have a blunted or less potent effect. These drugs essentially counteract one another in some major ways.

If you´re asking purely about your physical safety, I´m not aware of any issues regarding the combined usage of antipsychotics and Methamphetamine. If you want my real opinion, I would say you should really be trying to stay away from the Methamphetamine. I know you´re taking the antipsychotics for a good reason. Taking Methamphetamine is almost surely going to lead to issues with your long-term stability.

If you feel the need to use substances, I would advise finding something less intense than Methamphetamine, with less of a proclivity for causing psychosis.

The whole reason I got on risperdal was because when I stopped doing meth I went through psychosis for a very long time and it helped me go back to normal when I started risperdal
If anything mixing them is fine it just prevents me from going through psychosis I think that's really what is happening for me

I don't mean to scare you but Olanzapine gave me Coronary Heart Disease by skyrocketing my blood-lipids (cholesterol & triglycerides) so I stopped taking it. I was only on it for 3 years and I've only just turned 40! I might need a stent because of it :(. So please be careful.
