meth and your hearing?

meth users should understand what i'm saying, but if not maybe i am tripping absolute balls, lol.

so when i used to smoke meth, and i never really smoked it by myself, i swear my hearing would increase, for example, i'm sitting on one side of the room, and someone on the other side of the room is whispering to someone else and i can hear every word they're saying (or at least i think i can). i talked to a few other people about it, then we all were convinced when you're on the gear you get super sonic hearing. is this in any slight way true, does your sense of hearing become stronger? and another questions, i've never had ear problems really, and i've been off the gear for 10 months, and every now and then this happens to my ears:

i can hear a strong siren like ringing noise for about 1 minute. (and no there is no sirens around or any music on).
then every now and then i'll get a thumping in my ear that feels like it echo's back and forth and this is extremely fucking painful. this goes for about 40 seconds.

i also kind of came to the conclusion that my ears are fucked because of smoking gear, that because my ear senses got so heightened when i was on it, when i wasn't on it, it damaged my hearing. like any drug for example ecstasy, you know how if you keep having it eventually some receptors just shut down.
i'm no wiz on drugs, body parts any of that, so just letting you know. and my vocab isn't very big as you may have noticed.

The ringing noise is called tinnitus which users can experience from other drugs as well because your blood vessels are so tightened up and blood flow is restricted. I have recreationally used meth and have had past friends who used to be addicted to it say the same thing that things would sound louder, but for some reason i couldn't find any research on it. From personal experience i have heard conversations when sleep deprived that actually were never said (hearing voices very common). However i just would get more jumpy like if the doorbell rang or their was a thump in the wall because i felt edgy and anxious. Never have done it long enough to experience the louder noise thing, if anything i hear noises that aren't really their or just normal noises sounding distorted.

Well, im not sure if technically its said to increase hearing or sense, but im my experience proper doses definitely enhance all the senses to a large degree.

Mostly however this is high doses. For me especially smell is seriously magnified and distorted to scary proportions.

For hearing its more audio hallucinations instead of enhancement since i will always hear unreal things like an imaginary radio playing cool songs i have never heard before in my life. And gnomes having a party outside in my garden, for some reason.

LOL!

I get super amplified hearing on potent stims. In another thread I mentioned that when I binge on a-PVP every sound gets so loud (and some of those sounds are auditory hallucinations) that I get into a semi-catatonic state of paranoia because I'm afraid that 'someone' will hear me every time I do something.

When I vape a huge bowl of a-PVP (after doing a number of them in a row), I'll stand stock still before putting down the pipe because I'm scared that someone will hear the pipe touch the desk and know that i've been bingeing on a-PVP... and this is even when the house is empty. 8(

blight12, you've just mentioned two meth-specific occurrences people I know personally have themselves experienced:

A good friend of mine -- who did a lot of speed -- was once cleaning quartz crystals along with another associated friend. She would occasionally place a crystal in her mouth, as one does when messing with lots of little tiny things. Well I guess one crystal was different from the rest, as when it was placed into my friends mouth, somehow caused her to pick up a radio broadcast! According to her, the other friend was also to replicate the anomaly of picking up a radio station after having this crystal placed in her mouth. A radio was summoned to substantiate the belief that this was a real broadcast... and they found the same station using that radio!

Now, as far as I know, there was no radio station close enough to produce a signal strong enough to express itself in the environment (stoves, metal dental fillings, etc.), so who knows...

And gnomes having a party outside in my garden, for some reason.

Yep, that one occurred as well. They (either the gnomes or elves, I forgot) were making a circuit, sort of a loop down from a window and through the yard, back up to the window. Something between a hallucination and the narrative one has from a dream. The person experiencing this was at one point suffering from convulsions, which scared the crap out of me, as I did not know what to do att (I now know: provide sleep).

Anyway, I wonder if any of the things experienced by the Walking Untired might not be real? Does tweaking really connect you with an alternate reality, or are the experiences simply delusions common to all people due to similar mental makeups? The truth is out there... or the people are ;)

It really depends on your beliefs, most people believe it's just psychosis but i believe that meth personally does open a connection to alternate reality to an extent. I mean i definitely believe in ghosts and believe the some of the "shadow people (ghosts)" that you see on meth could be real, but seeing 20 ufo's on a clear night, or people in the car when literally nowone is in their is psychosis.

I'm also interested in the whole meth psychosis thing. I've been in some HORRIBLE psychosis's over my days as a speed addict, some were just down right paranoia stages in "standoffs" with cops but in other experiences my perception of reality seemed so mystical and vivid at the things I was seeing..it was amazing!

Especially the whole ghost and shadow people thing...never know if its sleep deprivation or that they could be real but in your altered reality (talking about ghost lol). As far as hearing goes..in my experience I only "heard things from far away" and had amped up hearing when I was completely outta my mind from sleep deprivation lol.
