Hi. First time poster here, so hopefully I'm doing this right. This is a bit of a complex question, so I'll try to be clear. About 3 weeks ago, my friend randomly ran into an old acquaintance who offered him some meth. My friend is not a regular user, and hadn't done it for 2 years (and knows he should't have this time). He smoked a little, maybe .25g. He ended up having a urine test at his pain management clinic about 82 hours after he took his last hit. He also has a valid script for dexedrine, and his doctor knows that. He is slim, 5'11" 160lbs, in his 30's, and has a fast metabolism. He has also been in full compiance with his pain management agreement since he started seeing his dr a year and a half ago. Right after doing the meth, he exercised, sweat a lot, and immediately started drinking a lot of water, pure pomegranate juice, and eaing foods that increase urine acidity.
There are several possible outcomes that he can think of:
1). He got the meth out of his system and passed the test whether just an IA and/or GCMS
2). He tested positive for amphetamines (which he does every month), so the dr. had no reason to do a GC/MS (according to my research, the lab only tests for general amphetamines and then it's up to the dr whether or not to do a more specific test afterwards)
3.) He drank so much water that the urine sample was invalid (which can be explained, as he is also vegetarian and has low creatinine levels normally)
4.) He failed
I know there is no way to know for sure, but my friend has been stressing about this. He took the test 2 1/2 weeks ago, and there hasn't been any phone call or letter from the dr telling him that he's been dropped. I was wondering if anyone has any insight into this situation and could help put his mind at ease. He regrets doing meth and has no intention of doing it again. Different sites have different timetables for detecting meth in urine. Some say 1-3 days, others say 3-5, etc. Given that this was just a one-time use and that he takes dexedrine (which speeds up metabolism), drank lots of water and lowered his urine ph, and had about 82 hours from his last hit to the time of his urine test, he hopes that he has a good chance of being ok. He suffers from degenerative disc disease, permanent nerve damage, and severe arthritis, so being blacklisted and unable to get pain management would severely hinder his entire life (once again, he knows he shouldn't have done the meth).
